Need Suggestions for Quilting Attic Windows Wall Hanging
 

I'm a fairly new quilter and am ready to start quilting this wall hanging. I can't decide how to quilt it. I have only done meandering, SID, and some straight stitch quilting. I'm not very good at SID, but I'm thinking of using it around the sashing, then meandering the rest. Or, I might just meander the whole thing, which would be easiest! But, I love the way it turned out and don't want to ruin it by quilting it wrong. I could also FMQ the border and window panes and leave the background picture unquilted. I need help deciding! I'd appreciate any and all opinions! Thanks!

I do mostly FMQ, meandering or whatever. My SITD is usually a quarter inch away from the seam, looks neater to me.

check out Leah Day's website--she has a wood grain that is pretty easy to do after a little practice on the DSM--it would look so cool on the window frames and then meander on the border (or straight lines or lines with a little wiggle--more just a fluid curve). As far as the window pictures, what about a tighter meander just in the area that looks like sunlight/fog and leave the tree trunks/limbs and green parts mostly unquilted--that way it would pop. Great job on the quilt. Be sure to post picture once it's quilted.

I would stitch in the ditch or as close to the window frames. Not sure about the Window scenery.

I would SITD in the window frame. Depending on your batting, you might find a thread color that will blend and outline the tree trunk so that the quilt won't sag.

Thank you! I bought the tree panel fabric at a quilt shop and followed the YouTube tutorial on Attic Windows from Jenny at Missouri Quilt for the pattern. She didn't go as far as quilting it, though!

Thanks everyone for your suggestions. I'm putting together a sample with the leftover fabrics so I can practice to see what looks best. I'll post a pic of the finished project!
