Okay, thought I had it all figured out but now I am not so sure! I laid the blocks out with the pinwheels, but hubby says it was too busy and i didn't have something right. I seen the pattern of the yellow and purple pinwheels but all he seen was the odd pattern in between. Make sense? Don't know if he doesn't have a quilter eye or if it really looks odd. I laid it out another way too. He liked it better but said either one was okay. So now what does everyone think on these two patterns. I promise this is the last time I will bug you all....lol. Just want to make a nice looking blankie for the baby.

Like them both but if I had a favorite it would be the top one with double pinwheels.
 Great job! |
My vote is for the second layout. I think the pattern is Jacob's ladder.
I like both, but prefer the top.
I don't know what it is that your hubby is seeing, unless he is seeing like a "cross" shape in the blocks instead of the pinwheel. I can see that too, but that is what makes it unique! I like it! |
I like the pin wheels all that beautiful color :-) :D
I like the bright cheeriness of the stars, but i also like the optical illusion quality of the 4 designs I see in it. The second one is nice also :D
I've a preference for the pinwheels, too. It's very playful-looking, while the Jacob's Ladder is less so. Just my thoughts! I think you did a wonderful job choosing your colors and fabric. It'll be a very special baby quilt either way.
Toni, I like the pin wheels too. It is amazing how many designs you can make with the blocks.
I really like them both, but if I have to choose............eeny meeny miney
moe I choose the second one! Great job! |
I like the pinwheels.
I prefer the second one, but that's just what is "personal preference". You can't go wrong with these two layouts. It's just an individual decision. You've done a great job! So which one do you like best? It's your creation, after all. Trust in yourself!

I really like your colour scheme and that cute novelty fabric  . I think either layout is gonna look lovely, the first gives movement in your quilt and the second gives a smooth line which draws the eye across the quilt. Go for the effect you like best :P . That's gonna be one lucky baby to get that quilt
Ohhh I'm really diggin the second one toni!!! I liked the first one...but LOVE the second one!!!
Looking at the first one...I see a nine patch with half triangles first (is that what your hubby saw?)...then i see the star. It looks great...but I'm sticking with the second one as my favorite. |
Both are great, but I think I prefer the second one. However, I am not a baby (at least about most things), and I think the first one has a lot of movement, which a young child might like. It's up to you--this is your creation, so do what YOU like!
Like everyone else, they are both great, but the pinwheel is my favorite!
PS You're not bugging us! This is what we're here for!!!!!!!! |
Both are wonderful, but I prefer the pinwheels - first I saw the blue ones, then when I went back to it, I saw the yellow ones! fun - fun - fun! :D
Toni, I love both quilts, both have there own special qualities, so just go for it. The colours are great, be proud of it. Ellie

I like the pinwheels. The blue pinwheels calm down the cneter block. Looks good to me!
#2...............I just like the look..........either way its going to be cute. :D
i like them both, too. the "something wrong" with #1 is that you laid out two of the triangles upside down (last one, right end, rows 1 and 3 from the top.) took me forever to figure it out.
i would probably do #2, then make #1 using two different "busy" fabrics for the pinwheels. BUT your version of #1 is the better of the two. fascinating, in fact, since it does turn into several different quilts depending on where your eye starts. #2 is just one quilt. why make one when you can make three or four in one?   |
I love them both. if you choose the pinwheels, quilt around the pinwheels to help them stand out. They both look GREAT! It is a hard choice. Bernadette
I like the pinwheels/stars layout best - personal preference only. It's like and optical illusion. The other one is more organized. Would it help to make the square that isn't a center of the star a different color to help the eye be more organized?
For another male perspective...hubby o'mine liked the pinwheels best. He saw pinwheels right off the bat, so I guess it wasn't just male vision thing after all LOL
Both look great and babies love color so its a hit both ways.
I think the first one reminds me of the friendship star, rather than pinwheels. I love the movement, too.
But I like the symmetry of the second better. My opinion is worth what you pay for it, nothing! Do what makes YOU happy, it's YOUR quilt. purple |

I agree. I like both, but I like the pinwheels better for the optical illusion quality. :D But go with what you think is best. |
Please don't stop "bugging" us! :D
They are both great! GREAT! I like the first one best. Which one do YOU like best?????? |
I went back and looked again. Now, I don't know which one I like best.....
I really like both. I do not know what hubby saw, I saw pinwheels and they were beautiful. I would do the second, as I like that for myself, but wish I had the courage to do the first one. They are beautiful, do what makes you happy, they are really good. :P
I like them both but the first one I think will be more appealing to a kiddy!! But as everyone says, the ultimate choice is yours!!! :D Just do what pleases you, you have to enjoy making it too!!!!
I think the first one looks more like a baby quilt and will catch and keep the baby's attention. I vote for the first one.
Linda |
Both are great, personal opinion I prefer the second. I think I was like your husband I didn't see the pinwheels on the 1st one until I looked for them.
I have some cute airplane charm squares that I now know what I am gonna do with them. Thanks for the idea :-) |
I LOVE the second layout. . . talk about precision. . Good job!
I like the quilt but my eye went directly to the center square and it took me a moment to see the pinwheel itself, sorry.
I like #2 but that's just me. They both look great. I liked the linear pattern w/ #2.
Julie |
I like the second one best! However, they are both nice!
I'm for the second one too.
I like the pinwheels...more fun.
I love the first picture. Looks cool.
