I'd be waiting for it to open in the morning. Great idea. I think it would be successful.

for sure, good place to get rid of some of my rulers I never use

Annaquilts 08-19-2011 08:54 AM

Definitely if it offered items I'd be interested in.

Offering to sell on consignment would be a plus.

My mind is working. I have a web site where I sell fabric.

lindaraestreasures.com

I coud have a section for that purpose. How interesting. I am open to suggestions about how to start this.

Would it operate like a used book store...if you brought stuff in you could get in-store credit toward stuff you wanted? I would definitely shop in one...like someone else said, if the shop and merchandise was clean. With prices going up, this might be a new trend. Just look at the folks on here who go to estate sales, thrift shops, Ebay, etc. hoping for a find.

i would in a second, if you are asking if it is viable in your area to open one, well, i would contact the chamber, the small business admin, and check and see how many stores, of any kind have opened, how long they have been in business, and how many have closed, what will your ins be, what is the traffic, foot or drive in, what is the interest in your area of texas, will you do consignment or outright purchase, do you have an attorney to look it all over, do you have enough cash to carry you over, is this your only income, do you have adequate staff, friends and family are good, and you love them, but are they dependable? and the list goes on..

i am not being negative, just have owned in the past brick and motar's, i can go on, and i believe you can do it, just remember it is you, and you alone that have the responsibility, i would shop with you in a second, till you probably got sick of me, another question, can you do free classes, simple, but free to bring in just the interested, not the skilled, (that is if you have fabric, or can they bring their own, and only pay a minimum for say thread or something, can you add to it with someone that will knit, spin, crochet, you do not have to add the product line, just something that will bring them in for a coffee time, chat, knit or whatever to make the shop look busy/busy is good?)

again, yes, i would, but you have to bring in lookers, not just shoppers, lookers pass on the info, shoppers only come when they need something.

best of luck, i think it can be done, i do not know you, but drive, determination and will can make it happen
