I am looking for a source for this paper. It is the Neenah brand vellum paper in the mustard/gold package. A friend bought it at a paper store on her travels. I tried to google it, but came up pretty empty. Even from Neenah! She also said what they are charging online is about 3 times what she paid in the store!
Do any of you have a PAPER store in your area that might carry this? She had a full ream and this paper is the BEST for paper piecing! |
I love vellum for paper piecing and I've just done a bit of a search to find it at a good price. I didn't see Neenah brand anywhere, but I'll be watching this thread to see if anyone knows of a source.
So far all I've come up with are 16 or 17 lb. vellum in smaller quantities - 100 sheets or less. |
What weight is it?
The vellum I use is almost like tracing paper and comes on a pad. What I could see is 67# which I know is way to heavy for paper piecing. |
|
|
I sent the info to a local printer to see if he can source it.
|
sadly she removed the label to give to someone else doing a search and they lost it! I do know that Neenah uses the color coded package paper and always has. The mustard gold color is the key to what weight/type it is.

I may have found it: http://www.supplyways.com/Neenah-UV-...-p/nuv1117.htm

Thanks! |
I purchased a ream of UV/ULTRA II, made by Neenah, some time ago. I love this paper. With shipping it was almost $45.00. That makes it kinda expensive. I will be checking with Office Max to see if they can get it any cheaper.
|
I'm going to go ahead and order some if the shipping costs are okay.
|
With shipping it was just over $40, so I ordered multiple reams to bring the cost down. I do paper piecing almost exclusively, so I know I'll use it eventually, but if anyone wants smaller quantities let me know. Once it's here I can figure out how much will fit in a Priority Mail Flat Rate Envelope to save on shipping.

Sure will!

I have lately been using a different sort of paper for paper piecing. It came on a roll, which I cut to fit into my printer. The consistency is like a lightweight newsprint and it's brownish in color.
I print the design on the paper, although with a light table, the paper is thin enough you could trace on it too. It tears easily and isn't as stiff as regular copy paper or vellum. It came from Home Depot, in the paint department. It was intended to be used for masking off areas to be painted. |
|
See if you have an XPEDEX in your area. They are a paper supplier and I have purchased Neenah vellum there before. It's a national paper supply chain.
|
did not get to stop anywhere today...sigh..men...so will have to order some.

This is the same packaging of a ream of velum paper that i have been using out of for over 6 years both for embroidery templates and for paper piecing patterns. Theweb addy on my package is www.neeahpaper.com. The price on the web site that you sent was a very good price as far as I could tell. Only 23.00 but don't know what shipping on a ream of it would be. I received mine as a Christmas gift from one of my sons years ago. Hope this helps locate it. Esther

have you tried dickblick.com ?

Never heard of using this for pp isn't it kind of expensive Seen a show where Brenda Henning said 20lb was good to use which is cheaper. Haven't tried yet but will look into it when I get around to pp
Does this go thro all printers |

Have you ever tried using parchment paper that is readily available at the grocery store? I started using it because it is what I had on hand but it works beautifully. Comes off cleanly and I print on it. If you iron over it after sewing it almost becomes slightly brittle and requires no effort at all to remove.

XpedX paper house her in Houston,Texas has it and it is 22.80 for a ream of 500 sheets. There home office is in Chicago, IL and they are all over the US. I don't do paper piecing but might have to get some of this in case I want to start!

I do a lot of paper piecing and was looking for something transparent so that it was easy to reverse designs. I came across Simple Foundations Translucent Vellum Paper and purchased some, but it was £7.75 for just 30 sheets - although good, really expensive! I felt there had to be something cheaper! I hunted around and, eventually, found packets of Owl Brand A4 Natural Tracing Paper which, unlike some other makes that I tried, goes through my printer like a dream without jamming it up! Unfortunately, I discovered soon afterwards that the makers are discontinuing it so, 3 weeks ago, I went on the internet and tracked down a boxful which works out at £2 per packet of 20 sheets - only snag is ..... a box contains 144 packets!! But at least I shall never run out!! In the US, you seem to have much cheaper alternatives than we do here in the UK.

I purchased mine at Staples. I have gotten it in sheets and in rolls. I think it is the best for Paper Piecing.
|
I used to buy Neenah paper at Xpedx. They have very good prices.

Staples has 16# Vellum in a pad of 50 sheets for about $8.00

Jacquie, I remember you were looking for it at our retreat in Enid! Still haven't found it? I will look around Tulsa but we have the usual Staples and Office Depot. Have you checked there?

Jackie, I told you I had e-mailed Neenah. Here's what they told me:
Dear Mary Ann, Thank you for contacting The Paper Mill Store .com I believe the brand that you are referring to from Neenah is the UV/Ultra II translucent sheets. Here is a link to the options that we carry: http://www.thepapermillstore.com/pap...er/uv-ultra-ii Please let me know if I can be of any further assistance. Best regards, Connie Customer Service The Paper Mill Store .com |
Neehan is a paper manufactuer they carry all type of paper stock. I have worked for a printing company for 30 years and they are a nice quality band of paper. There are wholesale paper houses all over that sell this paper to individual's. Before I paid 40 plus dollars I would check paper houses or your local printer they will know the Neehan brand. Bosworth Paper, Clampitt Papers, XpedX, PaperChase etc. some will not sell to individuals but some will.
