I didn't want to use our well water, either, because that had a lot of minerals in it.

Watched a show, I think on Fons and Porter, and the guy said to use bottled drinking water for your iron, but never distilled.

I used bottled "spring water" in the thing. Still died.

I use a B&D I've had at least 15 years. It heats up in less than a minute, doesn't leak, and has auto shut off. The one it replaced was 20 years old. I refuse to pay the outrageous prices for Rowenta and the others.

I use a Kenmore that I bought at an estate sale a year ago and I love it. It steams just fine and is a medium weight iron. The one I had before that was from the Dollar store and it was about 10 yrs old I think I gave about 10.00 for it.

My old Black & Decker didn't have that kind of steam and didn't have a button to push for instant steam!

My husband saw an Oliso at a local sewing machine dealer. They said, don't touch it, it's not good.

(But then again, the same dealer wouldn't show me the Janome Horizon 7700. They said the machines had a history of bad motherboards. I think they were pushing Vikings that weekend. I bought the Janome at another dealer.)

Still haven't bought a new iron. Glad to know you're happy with yours.
