I have tried an embroidery hoop once when I first started fmq, but couldnt get on with it, so dont think I would like this.

I do freehand fmq on a Janome 6600 up to king size. I always use Machingers gloves, in my opinion the best. And I have a Sew Slip mat on the machine bed (Supreme Slider is the same thing). This combination works brilliantly for me, the quilt moves easily, the gloves are excellent.
The use of the Sew Slip mat has made an enormous difference for me.

CompulsiveQuilter: -- Surprisingly, it doesn't! I use it on my fingertips when I piece, too!

I have a quilt halo, and I think this would work much better. It looks like it would grab hold better, and has an opening to put your foot through. It must have been a good seller because they are out of stock at Clotilde. I'll have to keep my eyes open for this.

I bought a set at the Knoxville quilt show and love them. I used gloves previously and my hands would get so hot and every time I needed to remove a pin, I had to take the gloves off. I love this set.!
