It is not a new magazine but it is a good one ;)
|
barnbum -
Quilt is NOT a new magazine - it's been around at least 20 years or more. I've subscribed to it in the past and I renewed my sub. a year or 2 ago. I always find something I want to make from it, unlike some of the other mag. now. If you like traditional, cozy, scrappy & country-type quilts you will surely enjoy this magazine. :) |
yes, I got one and it does look like it is neat. The price is right, but it is for six months, not twelve. I ordered it. I don't get any magazines. We get them donated by others who have read them and I will say the amount of advertising in each one is sometimes annoying to me

I DID NOT RECEIVED THE NOTICE.
IF AVAILABLE, GIVE ME THEIR INFO. J J |
Am I the only one who doesn't subscribe to a magazine?
I use on-line stuff alot and print out what I know I will use or file the link for the future. I would like a $10 offer, but haven't seen one. I'll keep watching the mail. If anyone gets an extra one or one they won't be using, if you PM me, I will send a SASE and you could send it to me. I keep avoiding the Quilter's World subscription. I like McCall's. Oh well, maybe when I am out of school and have a real job. Enjoy your magazines and make some really purdy things for us to look at and enjoy. |
Quilt is one of my favorite magazines also. I do have a subscription to it and think I have for a while now.
|
I just got one ;)>>
|
I like the ads in quilt magazines. It's the best way to know about what is new in quilting tools, fabric, batting, books, and machines.

I'm letting F&P go, too. I find that lately it's all about money -- nothing free anymore. They seem to be more into selling than sewing -- and all their patterns and fabric are pricey compared to all the other quilt magazines who are happy to give free patterns and extras and tutorials on their websites. I think I subscribe to all of the quilt mags, including the new online one. I do prefer to have a hard copy in my hands, one I can file and look through later.
|
I did get that and I ordered it, but haven't received it yet. I absolutely love Quilter's Home, but at $55.99 for 12 issues, I will probably not renew. I don't remember what the introductory offer was, but I know it wasn't that much! I like the spreadsheet idea. I can definitely let magazines get away from me and that would keep me in line.
|
Last year I subscribed to 5 magazines. 6 months before my subscription expired I started getting notices. I received 37 expired notices (I kept them all). 5 Mag and 37 notices makes approx 7 notices per magazines. Each month I am still getting expired notices, but Quick Quilts and Quiltmaker had a special for $21.00 a year plus a subscription for a friend free. I subscribed to both, found a friend, and we split the fee. In the meantime I went on line to see when my subscription expired, my Quick Quilts expires in 2012. The person with the spreadsheet has the right idea. Do not renew just because you get a notice.

Lol. I got the same offer, and threw it away (gasp!) because I didn't think it was legit. From what you all are saying, I'd better look through the recycle bin and send it off after all. Someone seems to have sold my address to the quilting world because now I'm recieving quilting junk mail. It kind of makes me frustrated, but maybe I'll check here to see if any of the things offered are really worth it.

And on a related note, I found that I had to create an Excel spreadsheet to keep up with my quilting magazine subscriptions so I wouldn't inadvertently subscribe to the same one twice, LOL! It tracks the name, number of issues, subscription date, expire date, amount paid, etc. Hopefully, I'll keep it all straight! I sometimes wish I had Excel, but my new computer doesn't have it. |

I wish they would let you renew on line like Herb Quarterly. They send the email and I can renew on line.....I have let every thing expire....too much paper! |
I have some older quilting magazines but, haven't subscribed to any for years. I do have lots of quilt books, maybe after I make all those up I will get more. I am dropping all magazines but, This Old House, the one I like best. Seems all of them want you to subscribe several times a year - one I was paid up for about 3 yr.s in advance and they want to automatically sign you up each year. I don't have time to read them any way.
|
I didn't get that offer either that's one I would actualy like to get instead of the ones I do get.
|
I love QUILT. I pick it up at the grocery store or pharmacy...only when the cover grabs me...have been for years.

Instead of using Excel, you can also use your word processing package. You can keep track of stuff by making a "table". If you need help, let me know. I have Microsoft Word... :D |
All I did was Google QUILT magazine, got on their web site and clicked on Customer Service. Called them and told them I am in a Quilt Group online that said a lady got a slip in the mail that said she could get their magazine for $10.00 per year. I asked if I could get that offer too and she said sure you can!!!  So I ordered it for $10.00 and I didn't have to give her my credit card. I can send in a check when the billing arrives. HOW COOL IS THAT???

I let my sub expire due to expenses, no increase in my SS. . love the mag. called Quilt and they said the only way they could let me take advantage of the $10.00 offer is if I gave them the zip code and last name of someone that had received the offer OR the code on the offer card. If some one wants to share that info with me please send to my private email [email protected]. God bless and thanks

I have some of the 1982 to 92 magazines what I like about the magazine is the fact that you get alot of patterns that you can take template material and trace off from the book. Also these patterns are some of the old patterns that are coming back out in print.
|
This is a good idea because I am always receiving renewal notices even though my subscription doesn't expire for a long time. This way you know when you subscribed and therefore know your expiration date.
|
I think it should be against the law for mag to send renewal notices. My 88 year old mother has paid Readers Digest until 2021!!!
|
GrammaK, they used to do the same thing to my Dad - I finally put a stop to it! Your post made me chuckle - thanks.
|
i haven't been following all along since the beginning, but this offer was mailed out to a few areas in the country and if you didn't get it in the mail, you can't take advantage of it. you have to return the card with the code on it. the only other offer they have now is one year for about $20 and 2 years for about $35.
it's better than the newstand price, but no give-away like the $10. |
I just called the 800 number and they gave me the deal of the 6 issues for the year for $9.97!
Hugs April |
quick - what is the 800 # ? and did you need a code# ?
|
800-866-2886.
And no code I just did as alaskasunshine suggested and it worked. Told them one of my quilting board members mentioned it and I wanted to see if I could get. He did it for me :-) Hugs April |
i just called them back and told them what you said. they told me that the subscription that was just expiring was that same offer and the woman i spoke to made a mistake. i just renewed it for three years at the $9.97 price, which they usually don't allow. but they were very nice about making that error.
thanks. |
woohoo we love great deals!!
Hugs April |
Great Idea!!I'm not sure what I subscribe to anymore. Plus, offers often come in the mail before the subscription is over, and its hard to tell which are legit or need to be renewed. I like your idea!
|
Eddie, Since you subscribe to these mags, are there any you would recommend over the others? Which ones are better, which ones are not? I want to subscribe to them all, but not sure which ones to chose.
I enjoy all your posts and your help. Awesome to have men on here. Hugs to all of you, Sarah in CA

How did you stop it. I have written letters asking them not to send all kinds of stuff but they still do. I had a friend whos mother had a $900.00 bill at Readers Digest for books and never read any of them didn't even open them when they came. He finally got them to stop but I have not had such luck
|
I received the notice, but am unemployed, so I tore it up! I hope the same offer comes up again when I'm re-employed!
|
I didn't get an offer - if I do I will subscribe it's a deal!
