Yes, I have one and they are great. Purchased at my LQS.

bjnicholson 03-06-2011 04:38 PM

I have one, but haven't needed to use it yet! If I ever get my first quilt done, I'll let you know!!!

stitchy65 03-06-2011 04:45 PM

I have one and it's awesome!! I love it!!

janeknapp 03-06-2011 05:15 PM

A nut pick works great. Just have cut off the sharp end of the pick and grind it smooth.

Quiltin' Grammy 03-06-2011 05:28 PM

I also use a grapefruit spoon - the little ridges keep it from slipping.

yesyoucan 03-06-2011 06:06 PM

I found that a metal pick that comes with the nut crackers set works really well it has two grooves in the end that the pins set in it works great.

Nettie Phillips 03-06-2011 06:29 PM

I agree with grann of 6. It would never be where I needed it.

Do you have one? What do you use to close pins?

Have one - love it!

B Jane 03-06-2011 06:48 PM

A grapefruit spoon works for me.

Stitchit123 03-06-2011 07:00 PM

I still use my fingers its proven the safest for me :-P -using strait pins and hand needles are dangerous for me

I have one, but I haven't used it yet.

tslowery 03-06-2011 07:16 PM

I have seen it but I have not tried it yet.

Sing 03-06-2011 07:39 PM

I've used one for several years and it's great! I can use it with either hand.

grapefruit spoons work great

snicktrain 03-06-2011 11:06 PM

I've seen Eleanor Burns use them with pin clips across the top of the pin so it does'nt hurt your fingers.

MerryQuilter 03-07-2011 02:42 AM

my fingers

klutzyquilter 03-07-2011 06:28 AM

When I first started quilting about 3 years ago I saw this listed as one of the "must have" tools. Bought it ... I've used it once. IMO it's not a "must have".

Scakes 03-07-2011 06:38 AM

I've never seen this. I just pin and suffer. LOL. May have to check it out if the other responders seem to like it.

janeknapp 03-07-2011 08:41 AM

I love using Kwik Clip or the nut pick as it saves the fingers. The pin clips on top of the pins is just another big expense. Try the nut pick...most of us have them and don't use them...especially the set of 6 all at one time. It must be old-fashioned for six people to sit around the nut bowl picking nuts.

wraez 03-07-2011 09:45 AM

I've never pin basted, I only use basting spray. That's the way I learned to baste and haven't tried any other way.

I'm guessing that you meant this was for pin basting?

bobquilt3 03-07-2011 12:27 PM

You can use an old fashioned grapefruit spoon, the kind with serrated edges. I think they are easier to hold.

gangles 03-07-2011 04:49 PM

I use a small screwdriver in my left hand to fasten and unfasten safety pins.

Lucy90 03-07-2011 05:30 PM

I have one and use it all the time

I use it for closing safety pins when I baste quilts. Its a great tool.

Crickett Sweet 03-10-2011 08:53 AM

Joannes. Some quilters also use grapefruit spoons.

Its for using with safety pins to baste your quilt. People with asthma and other respiratory issues cannot use the basting spray. I use the quilters curved safety pins.

joey 03-16-2011 10:16 PM

I have one. When you are putting all those safety pins in your quilt it saves your fingers from hurting...love it....

rob529 03-20-2011 12:17 PM

I absolutely love mine. I couldn't pin without it. The grove holds the pin just right. No slippage.
