Yesterday at my community quilts meeting a lady had one of these. I need one!! I'm so tired of poking my fingers and breaking my nails when I pin. I'm going to look for one today.
Do you have one? What do you use to close pins? kwik klip |
I have never seen one before. I'll have to check that out.

Yes, I have one and I like it. I got it in a secret pal trade.

Do you have one? |
I use a small teaspoon that I slip under the pin when closing it, keeps me from putting a ridge in my fingernail. I keep the spoon and a tweezer in the box I keep my pins it so it's always handy when I need it. I use the tweezer to pull out loose threads poking out of seams. May in Jersey

I bought one at jo anns with a 40% off. I seen a vidieo of it and "had to have" It is very handy!
I have one and find it very useful.
I use a grapefruit spoon.
I use a crochet hook (since I can't crochet worth beans!!). LOL
I LOVE it! it has grooves the hold the pin, makes fast work of basting, you hold it in your nondominate hand which seems odd at first
I will have to look for one!
I have had mine for years. I loved it. The arthritis is so bad now I can't use it anymore. Darn.

I have 2 of them--one for a helper--and I couldn't pin a quilt without 'em. Am looking into maybe purchasing some Pinmoors to see how they work.
I have one and LOVE it! Couldn't do safety pins without it anymore! :)
I use mine with the basting gun, too, not just safety pins.
I push the needle all the way from top to bottom and back to the top, use the Kwik Klip to push the fabric to the base of the needle and pull the trigger. If you have a nut pick (seafood pick) you can use the handle on that, too - it's got nice ridges to cradle the pin on the safety pin or the needle on the basting gun. |
Very handy!
I have one & don't like using it. Therefore it is just rolling around in a drawer & will never ever be used. PM me your address & I will mail it to you.
Ive heard some people use a grapefruit spoon as well
I use a wooden point turner.
yep i got one when i used pins a lot. lately i've pinned some borders and can't find my kwik Klip so i got out a white pointed Hera marker and used it to hold the pin tip up while I close it. worked fine. grapefruit spoons also work.
I have it and love it!
Got mine at quiltinaday and absolutely love it

I bought one of those when it first came out. I used it all the time but now I have found with the curved pins I don't really have a problem.
I have one somewhere..,.
If you pin your quilts this is the most important notion tool you can own. It saves on your fingers, and so easy to use.
I use mine every time I pin baste my quilt. I'm right handed so I hold it in my left hand, slip the pin through the sandwiched quilt so the end of pin slides right over the tool (which you hold flat to the fabric) and just push the pin top down,....click, it's closed. Save a lot of time and pricked/tired fingers.
I agree with those who say they can't pin a quilt without it. My nails are very brittle and never could stand up to the trauma of pinning. One of the Must Have tools as far as I'm concerned

I love my Kwik Klip. One of my best purchases!
I have one and do use it. helps keep my fingers from wearing out pinning/unpinning when quilting the quilt.
With my arthritis, I wouldn't be able to close the safety pins. With this miracle tool, it's no problemo! I keep it in the tin with my pins.
BTW - I keep a package of dessicant in the tin with my pins for basting. It's that pouch of stuff that comes in boxes with your shoes, in purses or anything else they don't want to get mouldy. It keeps the pins from rusting. |
The Kwik Klip works great! I keep it in my sewing basket. I also use the Purple Thingy - it helps with closing the pins too. Sure does save your fingers.
I love mine!! all those pins are closed in just a few minutes, fairly pain-free!!
I love mine. I have only been quilting a little over a year, and it is the best thing I have found that helps me survive the sandwiching process! I can use it with either hand, I didn't realize it was supposed to go in the not dominant hand. May have to see if leaving it in one hand makes the process go faster. It is pretty speedy already!
The purple thingy is tough and so user friendly. The size of it is great!

I love that tool! Money well spent! :D:D
I use the rubber fingers from office supply
I love mine and use it often. I keep it in a tall candy tin on my sewing table which holds markers, pencils, pens of many sorts and whatever else falls in there.
I was given one years ago by a non-quilting friend and I love it and use it often!
I bought a few small packages of the curved safety pins... pinned a lap quilt and boy what a pain that was. (My finger were like a pin cushion) I got one of these handy helpers. I love it.
