Woooo! I have Franklin treadle in the same cabinet! Mine also needs help, but is it pretty and moves freely. Check out the Vintage Sewing Machine Shop on this board to find tons of info on refurbishing these old ladies and their cabinets! I, too, paid $35 for mine. Your cabinet looks to be in better shape. I have a bit of missing trim.

My mother also sewed on a 319W for 40 years.
I now own it. It also has cams that are presently on ebay

The machine sells any where $200 to $300.

Good buy.

Thanks for all the comments and information. I'll be out of town for a while but when I get back I hope to get started.

Nice machines and cabinets. My Dad restores old rusty engines and gets them running again. He helped me get an old Universal running that was rusted up. We used "Rust Off" and WD 40. He said both are equally good. It helps to let them sit awhile after you put the spray on. It has really cleaned things up and got screw to turn that wouldn't before.
I am from south western Kansas; are you?
Also, love your avatar!!

That should dissolve the old varnish. After that, if you could apply Howard's orange feed 'n' wax. Then you just have to let that sit for 20 minutes, and finally buff with a clean flannel cloth. Should be all it needs.

Thank you SO much! I am anxious to get started. I can't wait to see her sparkling again. My grandmother had one so her name will have to be Sophia after her. She quilted many quilts and I have several. The cabinet wasn't this elegant, if I remember hers correctly.

the 319 Singer is a going machine. never have sewed on one
so fast ! she take 206 x 13 needles. do not use 15x1 like your regular machine takes. they are available online.
wonderful machine for so little money. the parlor cabinet is
to die for. she will clean up so nice. be careful cleaning the decals. they turn silver or come off very easily. do some research before you try to clean it. congratulations !
