You have a great sense for color and it looks great. Go with it. You'll love it in the end.
You did a great job on your blocks for a first quilt. It is going to be beautiful.
The colors are very nice together, and I think a medium sashing color would tie it all together very well. Great job!
I really like it! Keep going.
fix your boo-boo, don't sash blocks, you'll love the movement of the lighter blocks! I would add borders after the middle's done!!probably start w/ the tan from the star blocks! LOVE the star centers!!
I think you're doing a lovely job. Keep up the good work.
It is looking good the colors you are useing are complementry to each other. I wouldn't change anything on it as it is very pretty the way it is. Happy quilting!

I learned the "Ohio Star" square in my class and found a layout online that I liked to go with the Ohio Star http://crazymomquilts.blogspot.com/2...ng-week-1.html
Instead of the different types of stars, I figured I would use the Ohio Star for all of the star blocks and an off-white/green setting square. I have completed 6 of each type of block...and laid them out earlier. I am thinking the colors don't really work (the off-white with the darkness of the other block). I haven't done any of the sashing strips...so maybe that will help tie it all together. What do you think? Should I rethink the setting squares? Thanks in advance!!! |
The photo background you're using (carpet?) may be distracting you. You may want to lay it on a plain bedsheet.
Also, you might try laying a few squares on fabric for sashing and see what you think. You've done a very nice job. It'll turn out great. |
I like it, too!
The blocks are gorgeous. You might consider a dark, dark green for sashing with the gold cornerstones.
I personally would like to see some of that lovely peachy color brought out of your star square.
What I would do is sash with that peach but add the chain blocks to the corners of the sashing so that it is not interrupted. It would only need to be a narrow sash and one of the green blocks to carry thru the chain. |
I think your green should be brighter shade to give more constrast.
I especially like the fussy cut in the center of the star. I don't think the 9 patch is too dark. The combination of the 2 blocks looks very good to me.
I think it does work. For sashing I would choose another color from your focus fabric. Keep going and it will be beautiful.

I think it is beautiful just the way it is. Keep on going, it is going to be a gorgeous quilt. You are doing a great job and just have fun with it.

So far it works

Looks great !! Hello from Western Mountain Maryland !! :-D   |

What about surrounding each block with a border, light for the stars and dark for the Puss In the Corner BUT----with corner squares of the right colors to keep the continuity of the diagonal squares???????
I'm thinkin' I like it very much......keep going! :-D
I like it. Can't wait to see it finished.
pretty
Good as it is and you will loose the pattern with sashing.
She won't lose the diagonal pattern is she uses cornerstones of the same color in the sashing
I like it the way it is, great job.
LOL! i am doing the same design ! I think your colors are marvelous, nice job :)

I don't see any problem. The light block lets the dark block stand out and visea-versa. Good work!!!! Keep going. I think you will like it when you get done. Be sure to post the finished photo.

Way too pretty to change! Love it!
I really like the light cream. It gives the over-all pattern lots of brightness and movement. By using the same light green in both blocks you have tied it all together nicely, but kept it interesting and not too predictable at the same time.
I'm trying to picture sashing, and think it may not add anything to the quilt. BTW, Did you see one of your blocks has a corner put together differently from all the others? Great start for a beginner! |
I think it looks great and the colors go well together. What are you planning to use for sashing?
It is very attractive! Keep going!
Ilove the colors and the contrast....You do not need to have everything "match" in a quilt........You could add sashing to this in a coordinating color, or just put the blocks together..........either way, it will be a eautiful quilt.
I like it! :)
Blocks and colors look wonderful (fixing the one previously mentioned by MTS) It looks very comforting.

I actually love it together. I think you should lay it out on a white sheet. Your carpet is probably mixing in the colors. I believe you might see a truer version on it by looking at it on a neutral color.

Looks great with no sashing
