Today when I was driving into our condos I noticed a lady sitting on the garage floor and it looked like she was pinning something. I went home, dropped off my new fabric and walked over and yes she is a quilter. She took me in and showed me some of her quilts. OMG they were beautiful. She is light years ahead of me. I'm so excited to have someone to share my quilting with and someone to help me with more challenging projects.

I assume she is a new neighbor with a NEW CLEAN garage floor! How wonderful you have a close-by quilting buddy. I have two next door and it's great to share!

How wonderful for you!! I am jealous. (but in a good way!)

tolepainter54 09-12-2010 10:58 AM

She has 2 pieces of plywood down that she cleans after each quilt she works on. She has a 2 car garage and she can leave it set up all the time. I have a 1 car garage and would have to pick it up after each use. I am looking forward to having a neighbor that has a love of quilting.

Mousie 09-12-2010 11:21 AM

hey, maybe she'll join and show "us" her quilts  :!:
woo hoo! thanks for friending up with your new neighbor, tolepainter! ;)

Favorite Fabrics 09-12-2010 11:25 AM

As soon as I read your post I too was thinking "gotta have a CLEAN garage floor" followed by "must be a NICE neighborhood" ... and then I had to check and sure enough, you're not in the frozen north. Ummm... those of us in snowy areas would have wet garage floors or icy ones, for quite a few months! ;)

quiltluvr 09-12-2010 11:26 AM

Thinking the same way, bring her on board! Cool that the two of you met. Having another creative mind is inspiring.

baglady65 09-12-2010 03:11 PM

Wow wish I could find someone in the neighbor hood like that too!

That's how I felt last wk. when I served 3 days on jury duty. By the third day, we were all getting a little rummy & got to chatting when I discovered one of the women was not only a quilter but a long armer. She belongs to a lot of guilds & seems to be all over the place. I now have her ph.# for when I need final quilting done.

Annz 09-12-2010 06:29 PM

Oh you are so lucky. I hope this is the beginning of a long and wonderful quilting relationship.

tolepainter54 09-12-2010 06:44 PM

Yes, I do to. She seems to be pretty laid back. Just in the little while we spent together, she told me a story about a couple of her quilts. One quilt was made with fabric from Guatemala. She said on the bus trip, people were buying pieces of fabric for her and she made a quilt with it. The next project she is planning on is a french braid. I'm glad I walked over yesterday to see what she was working on.

Lizzygail 09-12-2010 06:44 PM

Just had to send a quick note when I saw your signature. I'm a sewer/quilter and my mother is a tole painter. We just completed the enclosure of a 3 car carport into our 'great room' for painting and sewing. Nice to hear you have both talents!

Pickles 09-12-2010 06:46 PM

That is so wonderful

Magdalena 09-12-2010 06:53 PM

How fortunate for you. I hope the same will happen for me.

twinkie 09-13-2010 04:32 AM

Have you thought about having her join our group? It is always great to have experienced quilters. Great find for you.

vannadine 09-13-2010 03:58 PM

How fun! I have a friend and several acquaintances who quilt. For a beginner it is very encouraging. Hope it works out for both of you.

zz-pd 09-13-2010 09:07 PM

That would be so nice. God bless.

ChubbyBunny 09-13-2010 11:44 PM
