OK...maybe I have no business doing this, since I am a brand new quilter...but I went to a quilt show on friday, and the local guild does the coolest ( to me) challenge. You receive an envelope with 2 paint chip cards...and you are only allowed to use the colors on the cards for your quilt ( no black or white added) Anyone willing to take me up on this? PM me with your address and I will send you the cards, or I can give you the card numbers and you can pick them up at your local hardware store:)

Did you get Admin permission to do this? If they allow it and you give me a few more details, I'd do this with you. How much fabric goes into this project, is it a wall hanging, lap size or bed size quilt and what's the time frame? Do you use only the two colors or do you get to use different shades of the two colors? Prints or solids? See I have questions.
|
I don't really understand what it is you're wanting to do.
|
Give us more details, might be fun.
|
Recently did this with a group on line. We were given initials of the person we were making for and told to get paint chips in those initials then match the fabric to those chips and make something. We were able to use one alternate color like for a background. I made a tablerunner and received a wall hanging--it was fun project. I don't have time right now for something like that however.

If people want to try the challenge, I can send either send themthe color chip cards...or tell them the brand and color numbers and they can pick them up themselves. after that it is up to them for the size etc...but they can only use those colors...does that explain better? |
this sounds like fu, i need more deails, what are the ules in your guild, maybe we could flooow those.
|
a two-color quilt would be fun. And... would justify a Shopping Trip! lol...

since I am a very new quilter...I would say a minimum of 6 months:) ( I want to be able to complete the project myself) My thought would be for each person to give me a basic color they like...then I can pick colors to suit each person. |

Sounds like fun...get a few more details and perhaps more will want to do this...
Perhaps get the brand name of the paint sold at, let's say, Lowes...and then give the paint numbers... Give a size of a square...say 12" x 12" A time limit...say, 1 month to finish and post or mail away just some ideas... firm it up and I wouldn't mind joining in! |

OH...I guess I should tell you, the color thing is not a prob for me as I am an artist already...just the sewing lol. |
I would be interested I will watch for details.
|
I'm in Judie, and if you don't mind my suggestion, why don't you leave the color choice up to the person giving the paint chip, that way some of us (me) who tend to stick to the same colors may have to leave our comfort zones and use colors we normally wouldn't. Just let me know when and where to send my paint chips. Do you have Home Depot or Lowes where you live? That's what we have here.
|
OK...I figured a minimum of 6 months to complete...each person can give me a fave color and I can give them the brand and number. size is your choice , as well as pattern.
ps whereabout in Plano? I moved back to Cali 2 yrs ago from Garland...but worked at the Mall off the 75:) |

Of course I trust you :XD: :XD: :XD: :XD: :XD: :XD: :XD: what's the worst thing that can happen, I find I have a "new" favorite color, or I hate what I do and I give it as a gift to someone I know that loves those colors? Seems like a win/win to me. |

I think it sounds like fun. I would join but I'm currently in 2 round robins and a local guild challenge, the President has challenged everyone to bring in a finished item every month. So far I have been able to finish 2 projects per month, (Since I am VP this year I thought I should step up and do the challenge) I have to find a project to finish this week!
|
this sounds fun. Time right now is super short, but I'm sure I can do something in 6 months.
|
Just wondering, would this be a quilt-a-long or a swap? I would be interested, if it was a quilt-a-long. I think it would be great to get the paint chips and start the first of the year.

Sounds like big fun! I am in the middle of a project--trying to fix something that I boo-booed--but will do this soon. I think it would be the most fun to do with a group--kind of like those Christmas gifts where you pick the one you want and pass on the one you don't

Oh Judie, this sounds like fun! I like to play too. I'd like you to pick a color for me, if you don't mind, as I do really love all colors, and it'll be fun to see what you pick for me.
Maybe if you can get Patrice's approval (senior moderator), we can start a thread in the Blocks of Month/Week section and do a quilt-along, sharing ideas, progress and what not. What do you think? Where is the brand of paint you are using sold? |
I just thought of another question. Lets say I got purples, would we be allowed to use a purple print, such as say a purple background with red flowers? Or does it have to be only purple?

|
here's a link to a list of all the colors. On my computer, I have to click them to See (if you Right-Click and select Open In New Tab , you won't have to leave the page with the list).
Don't know how close the colors are True to the actual paint chip, but still it gives an idea. I am Loving my colors, btw! http://www.myperfectcolor.com/v/vspf...lors-index.asp |
