Okay, I'm a traditional quilter. This is just a section of a quilt I'm making for my LQS as a sample for their shop. I'm still not so sure I like it. It's so busy and there are so many different blocks.... 23 in total. Again, this is just a section. Is it too busy for you, too?
The name of the quilt is Green Tea and Sweet Beans by Jen Kingwell, an Austrialian designer and I need to get it done so I can get back to my Little Brown Bird quilt. |
I love sampler quilts. I looked up the pattern too and your quilt will really be nice when you finish it. I hope you post a photo when done!

I really like it a lot because there are busy parts interspersed with simpler areas. With appropriate quilting i think this could be an absolutely gorgeous quilt!

I too googled the pattern. I like the colors in the pattern and I bet your photo is not the true colors based on the wooden chest in the background. Look at what you've done so far with a reducing glass and see how it looks. I think it will give you a better prospective of the finished quilt.

OOOOOOOH, I love it!!! Nice job.

My eye doesn't even know where to rest to explore the quilt. Cohesive....that's the word missing for this quilt. If it had cohesion it would be a nice quilt.

Jan in VA I just looked at it again......hmm, I have several orphan, experiment blocks hanging around.....now I know what to do with them........ |
I love it! Keep on going. No, it isn't too busy. That is the way she meant it to look. The store will love it too. The patrons will love it also.

interestingly, when I looked at the whole quilt (there are quite a few images on the interwebs) my first reaction was the same as when I saw a Dear Jane for the first time. defiantly busy, but what a great way to show some great piecing techniques. I am impressed by the mastery it takes to put togther a quilt like this, let alone design it! bravo for taking on the challenge; it truly is spectacular.
