I think a mint or pastel green would make all the colors melt together, that would be so pretty. Like this one http://www.alderwoodquilts.com/shopp...riendshipQuilt

framing goes around each block and sashing goes between blocks (verticle/horizontal). Does that help? I think going to a fabric store and laying out your blocks on several different fabrics then you will love what ever you come up with. It all depends wha look you are going for. Contemperary/classic ?etc Your fabrics are really pretty, I can't wait to see it when it is finished.

I personally would like the diversity of different borders of the blocks...keep the variety going. Would be beautiful!!
Now, for the color thingie you have....here's what it is to do ...if you have a stack of picked fabrics for a project....you can look thru the cool or warmer color slide of that thingie..and, if you have too much of the same color family it will literally dissappear by viewing at it:)Really! You need differences in color..or everything would be blah...and, have had that happen in a color selection and once looking thru that viewer...it was like 'duh'! And, I fixed it:)I had 2 that were too close and by looking thru the viewer there were no definate lines to which one started or stopped..Whenever you buy a jelly roll or a line of fabric...those choices have been taken care of for you:) I'm anxious to hear what you decide and am looking forward to some pics of that decision. Beautiful fabrics! SKeat |
Looks nice to me.

I'd do green, because I really like the freshness of green. :)

Is there a reason you want to make this decision before you have the blocks done? I would at least do some blocks first, then try out some different colors. Sometimes what looks best is a color you never would have thought of. The "look" that you want isn't always easy to see until after you have a couple of blocks together. The blocks may be busier than you thought, or too calm, so at that point the sashing could change the look to more what you want.

I would also vote green AND take your pieces to the LQS; I was in a similar quandry, took my unfinished top to the fabric store and ended up going with colors I never would have thought of and was very happy with the results. :D

I vote for green, but I'm biased since that's my favorite color  :)

I am going with the green. As I was talking to my daughter about it yesterday she pointed to the side of me and said "like that color?". I turned my head - to the wall and the window and had no idea what she was pointing at. Turned out to be the hair tie I had on!!
So we went to Walmart - found the exact color and I finished my first row this morning. Once I get a couple rows put together I will post a picture. I want the green above and below all the blocks as well as on each side so I started sewing the green to the sides of every other block for the first row. Well to be honest I sewed the green to both sides of every block by mistake and switched the blocks out for identical ones saved for other rows. Block - green - block - green . . . I am still not sure how to do the horizontal green because of possible seams - but that is for another day.. and I am sure another post! Thanks for all your help!!!! |
