this woman is amazing. Her quilts seem beautiful, too.

granky 01-20-2011 08:29 AM

OMG! I would never get any sewing done! Would never be able to decide what to use...

fmd36 01-20-2011 08:30 AM

Thank you for correcting the link. Still new at this. fmd36

Candace 01-20-2011 08:31 AM

Wow, she must have a gazillion dollars tied up in storage containers.

np3 01-20-2011 08:33 AM

Now she is addicted to collecting fabric.

crochetetc 01-20-2011 08:46 AM

I think there is more money tied up in the containers than the stash!!

I would never be able to sort that way then my true obsession with buying fabric would show!

RatherB Quilting 01-20-2011 09:10 AM

That is NOT a stash! That is a personal quilt shop!!! I am going to dream of a private quilt shop tonight now!! *ahhhhh....sigh*

Yes, I'll bet she does. I wouldn't be able to find the container I was looking for..

quiltsRfun 01-20-2011 10:41 AM

That's quite a stash. She's got more fabric than some stores I've been in.

bigsister63 01-20-2011 05:35 PM

Oh my!!!!! What is that saying " She who dies with the most fabric wins!" I think this lady wins!!!!!!!

NanaInVirginia 01-20-2011 05:47 PM

Amazing. I saw the picture of her on the computer and I couldn't help but wonder if she had so many bins she had to keep a master file on the computer to be able find stuff.

M.I.Late 01-20-2011 06:13 PM

My husband would have a conniption fit if I had that much stash. I'm afraid I would be overwhelmed too. I have a full pantry and I think that's enough for me. When it started getting too full, I just started buying smaller pieces. Quilted more and stayed out of the shops. That's cool but a little scary to me.

MadQuilter 01-20-2011 06:17 PM

OK, I don't feel so bad any longer. Mine is contained in the closets along one room in a 11x11 room. I need to show this to DH - if he ever gets to ?? my hoard - I mean stash.

sewingladydi 01-20-2011 06:20 PM

There was a discussion here earlier this week on those photos of her stash. What was surprising to me was the number of folks who were so critical of this woman.

Lots of not so nice comments like "she must never get any quilts done because she too busy organizing", "she must be obsessive-complusive", "I would feel guilty if I had that much fabric" and other comments about the plastic storage containers negatively impacting the enviroment. Which is kind of funny because lots of folks here use plastic storage containers.

Sad to read so many unwarranted negative comments from what is normally a very nice group of folks

I absolutely love her system. My fabric is all in large bins stacked in the closet of my sewing room. I hate having to lug them out and to the table to search thru them for what I need. Plus mine aren't even clear and it never fails that what I need is in the very bottom tote.

marthe brault-hunt 01-21-2011 03:29 AM

I know about librarians, is there a proper term for people that classify pieces of fabric the way she does.

fireworkslover 01-21-2011 03:54 AM

WOWZA, yes, her stash is like a store!

CarrieAnne 01-21-2011 04:16 AM

WOW!

She wins hands down! What a wonderful site, I would never leave the basement.

Katrine 01-21-2011 07:49 AM

Jaw dropping! And then towards the end there are all her numerous scrap bins by colour, then by shapes too. And notions and thread containers and all filed too. It's a warehouse - I could spend a holiday in there!

KarenBarnes 01-21-2011 07:57 AM

I read about this person yesterday and I love the organization even though it was a little more OCD than I could ever be. It would be nice to know exactly where something is though...

jeandriggers 01-21-2011 08:10 AM

I agree, I wouldn't want to mess up my room. But I'm sure you do a lot with it, since you can find what you want. And looks like you have enough to do anything you want to.
This is great and must of taken a lot of hours to organize. Great job..

Kappy 01-21-2011 08:58 AM

All I can say is WOW! I can't imagine having that much material at my disposal at any time of the day or night! I would never sleep! LOL I wish I had half of her organizational skills, well, I guess if you count "thinking about getting organized"....I would get too bogged down in..does this go in the hearts box, it has hearts but it's mostly pink so it could go in the pink box..and there would go my whole system..before I even got started!!! I do admire people who can do this! It also makes me want to go have something chocolate to soothe my inadequacies!

arbed31 01-21-2011 11:22 AM

Wow! I want to have that one day...

misseva 01-21-2011 12:10 PM

actually, if you're an organized person - it doesn't take that much time. start-up would be the most time consuming. after that - you just add-on to what you have. i have my embroidery thread (i know - it's nothing like her stash) organized & in boxes by number. i put them in the computer and can sort them by number or color. it's really neat when you're looking for a specific color.

Shemjo 01-21-2011 12:33 PM

Oh my! I love it, wish mine looked that good. I have mine in big tubs right now, but I don't like it, so I may have to reconsider! It is easier to sew when I can find what I am looking for easily.

I agree :)
She did say she had water done there at one time, bet those containers are worth every penny:)
Bet it keeps it clean of spidees too:)

megs0863 01-21-2011 01:32 PM

This lady can open up for business!! Wow. Would love to thumb through all that fabric.

pittsburgpam 01-21-2011 01:39 PM

Dang!!! I would spend more sorting than I would sewing!

mommafank 01-21-2011 01:56 PM

I use little plastic boxes like she does and label them in a way that I know what is in each..but golly I only have about 15 boxes.

Tweety2911 01-21-2011 02:44 PM

I want to be put in her will!! What great organization and space. Still working within my mess....no time to sort, too busy with so many other things. Do regret not taking the time when I am looking for somehting, lol.

pamsmpk 01-21-2011 02:45 PM

Wow!! I'm speechless...I'd love to be let loose in that room for a couple of hours...or weeks.... LOL

Floralfab 01-21-2011 02:51 PM

Wouldn't you love to see that stash in person. She is very organized. My stast looks sick compared to hers.

Tussymussy 01-21-2011 03:02 PM

I am utterly stunned.
