That is a very nice piece of work.

It'sJustMe 09-10-2011 05:04 AM

I'd like to know the age of the quilter...

QuiltnNan 09-10-2011 05:24 AM

holy cow! that is really, really intensive work. i'm not sure i would ever tackle something like that.

Wanabee Quiltin 09-10-2011 06:15 AM

thanks for the pictures and for putting your finger there for size. hard to believe they made anything that small.

Married48 09-10-2011 06:26 AM

A group of quilters from Yakima saw the same exhibition and could not believe our eyes. All of her work was gorgeous. I think the quilter was Sally Collins, correct? Great show. Spentl too much money, but well worth the cost as I will now have an acrylic table for my Featherweight.

grandjan 09-10-2011 06:30 AM

Isn't that amazing! Thanks for the pictures.

how do they sew the seams?

this is not a stupid Q-I was wondering the same thing -talk about eye strain and cramped fingers and lose of blood from pricking your fingers

Annz 09-10-2011 07:01 AM

Wow that is tiny.

I think her name is "Sally Collins". I went to a show a number of years ago where she was the featured quilter. Fantastic....she has several books out....is aging so not sure of what she does anymore.

Mariposa 09-10-2011 07:06 AM

Sally's work is just fabulous! Thanks for sharing the pics!

writerwomen 09-10-2011 07:09 AM

The sewers had to have unbelievably steady hands and patients- not to mention great eye sight

Ann912 09-10-2011 07:35 AM

Amazing.

BuzzinBumble 09-10-2011 08:01 AM

So Incredible that anyone could create such perfection on such a small scale!
Drat! My threshold for throwing away scraps just shrunk even smaller! :?

caspharm 09-10-2011 08:04 AM

Look like Sally Collins style! She loves to do minis. Definitely detail oriented. Beautiful!

Jennoh2 09-10-2011 08:27 AM

I'd like an answer to the "How do you sew those seams" question. I have a pp pattern for a small village - and I can't figure out how those pieces get sewed either. Yikes - someone is a miracle worker.

tealfalcon 09-10-2011 08:28 AM

oh my word tiny tiny tiny...they are beautiful

Rose L 09-10-2011 08:37 AM

I have some books on mini quilts, they use 1/8th inch seams to piece the quilts. I have yet to try one but a friend of mine made several in traditional block designs and they are really something to see. I display the one she gave with great pride in her work.

amizjeanne 09-10-2011 09:57 AM

ONG - I recently tried to make a 4" patchwork square and I am ready to throw the book out the door. I made a plastic template etc. but putting it together is akkkkk!!!

hudgoddess 09-10-2011 11:21 AM

Crazy! Again, every time I go to a show and see work like that I think I'm not worthy to touch fabric!

I collected Miniature Quilts magazine for years and read them all (never yet made one!) but I remember a tip.....I think they sew 1/4" seams and then trim them down to 1/8"......OR they sew the block bigger and then trim it down.

gramquilter2 09-10-2011 11:59 AM

Wow, that is beautiful, I love mini quilts!

catladyquilts 09-10-2011 01:30 PM

momcpo 09-10-2011 01:35 PM

Jennifer22206 09-10-2011 01:51 PM

Oh my word.. and I love doing miniatures. Even I don't think I have the patience for that.. and I'm working on a quilt with 3/8" hexagons..

frog54 09-10-2011 02:40 PM

Wow those are really amazing. I can barely see the hst let alone sew it

Nettie Phillips 09-10-2011 05:40 PM

Gorgeous but I don't think I would want to make it. Toooo small.

klarina 09-10-2011 07:42 PM

Amazing!

roxie623 09-10-2011 08:01 PM

I would go batty sewing stitches that small. They are absolutely beautiful. The quilters that made them need to be commended for such great work.

Maybe it was Sally Collins........ She makes quilts like these, and I have one of her books...

katigirl 09-10-2011 11:27 PM

Smaller than I could ever do that's for sure.
