Oh, that sucks. Learn from that and measure twice, cut once.

Not what you want to herar but cut either 1 1/4 strips and sew them on or 1 1/2 in. strips, sew them on and square them up. If you have enough fabric you could start over again. You do not know how often I have done this. Blehhh! Where you using a shape cutter?

This must be the week for it! I did the same thing on Sunday, not once but twice. Ended up short of fabric and had to piece some squares to get the blocks I needed.

2 suggestions. Save for the border. And. Use as pattern on the back of quilt.

Don't waste them, if you can't use them in this project, put them in a charity quilt.

I cut out pieces for a quilt following all directions. Discovered the instructions were wrong and 2 yards of fabric was wasted. Luckily I was able to get more. Now I have 30 1/2 square triangles (half of 9 7/8 squares) that I need to figure out how to use elsewhere!!

I have done this many times. I have to make one block all the way through and then go to the second one. I can't do all my cutting at once or chain piecing. I have fibro fog and ADD and get confused easily. I am an intelligent person, but can get myself all discombuberated without even trying! Don't let this frustrate you. Quilting is supposed to be fun! Give yourself permission to make mistakes and move on. Cut the squares smaller, add a strip to make them the correct size, make pillows or a bag out of them. Just forgive yourself. Remember, it won't be the last mistake you make and it's just some fabric:)

Been there, done that, then I hit myself on the side of my head and say "dumb blonde", even though I haven't been blond since I was in grade school. LOL. I once cut strips for an entire quilt, then discovered that I had cut them an inch too short. Well, I now have some strips for another fabric. It's frustrating, but sometimes you can come up with an alternative for the quilt and maybe end up with a new pattern. Don't beat yourself up, it happens.

Hopefully you have enough of the fab. to take care of the mistake. But don't really consider it a mistake, just use those on the backing, and you won't lose anything from the error. Perhaps you might want to cover up the 1 with a small piece of painter's tape, (easy removable and no residue on your ruler) and this mat be a reminder of where you need to start your cutting. Just a thought. I think everyone has been in your shoes sometime or another. Really makes me feel DUMB when I do something like this. Good Luck.

Now we are going to find out how 'creative' you are. I know that all of us have been there at one time or another and can symapthize with you.
