I'm not a fan of their Daily Deals because they won't send them to me. I have subscribed 5 times over the last few months and still I had to go to them, well no longer.

Eleanor Burns has an inspiring story, too. Had she had today's internet when she started, I suspect her trajectory would have been very similar. She had to reach audiences one at a time instead, which must have been a lot harder.
Anyone who can make quilting more popular and accessible is worth cheering for, I think. hugs, charlotte |
Jenny Doan is the best! Their selection of fabrics is amazing, prices are competitive, their personnel are friendly and helpful and I've never been disappointed with the Missouri Star Quilt Company. Long may they be the best.

Yes, I'm hooked on MSQC but not just for Jenny and the store. I admire what her family and others are doing to rebuild the town of Hamilton. While Jenny is the "face" of MSQC, Al, Sarah, Natalie and many, many others are devoting themselves to their vision. I believe that they are one of the true American stories and look forward to following them through the years.

This run today has put me in the mood for a road trip to MO. How far is Hamilton from Bransford? I have watched several of her videos, and she is precious. I made one of her quilts not too long ago; she is really easy to follow.

Not obsessed, but I do like Jenny and her tutes. I have purchased the daily deals before and also get her new mag. She has some really fun tutes and it's always easier to send someone a link to one of them than explain how to make something!
I think Jenny is totally loveable. |

They do email out the daily deal, I've been getting the emails & buying the deals a lot, can't remember exactly where I signed up for the emails. I just found out recently about their forum.

I just love Jenny, what she & her family have done for Hamilton is amazing. I was fortunate to see her in person last week when she had a trunk show in Pittsburgh. And what makes me love her even more is her attitude that quilts are to be used & loved, taken on a picnic, actually used. That is what I want for my quilts, to be used & loved, not kept as an art piece (well, I don't have to worry about that, I'm not an artist) but it thrills me to see my quilts being used.

I, for one, am glad that Jenny and her family came along and is living their unexpected dream. Her tutes are easy to understand and the magazine BLOCK gives me something in print to follow as well. I have ordered several things from MSQC and have absolutely no problem.....even my in package invoice is signed by one of the employees. I love the stories that are shared.
A product that I really love are the templates designed by Natalie (MSQC). The acrylic they use is yellow and they look like the edges are lit up. |
I am not obsessed but have watched many of the tutorials and was fortunate enough to attend one of her classes. She won't be doing many more classes in far away places after she fulfills her obligations already booked. She and her family want her to stay at the shop and greet visitors. She was a very good teacher and it was a fun class. I think her company is a nice reputable one although they tend to focus more on pre-cuts. The videos are a good place for beginning quilters.

I grew up and lived most of my life in rural Missouri, so I've seen and experienced the economic crises in small-town life for many years. I enjoy the tutorials and the personality-rich website, but mostly I am thankful for the turnaround in the small town of Hamilton due to the popularity of the MSQC.
|
Yes it's a wonderful website. They are wonderful to share so much quilting knowledge with us. I would encourage everyone to support the store.
|
Saw Jenny in person (hubby too) in Naples. She is a happy person and so willing to share knowledge of her quilting techniques. If you get a chance to see her you won't be disappointed. Company is great for supplies and if you email them a question you will receive a personal reply not a programmed message. Always have had great personal service from company with no complaints on my part. Jenny does suggest you use and support your local quilt shop first! I could not find cancer fabric locally and found some on their site. Great tutorials.

I finished my epb....it turned out 90x100 with the flowered fabric borders...didn't buy anything...love all the fabric and a good way to "see" it again LOL

I am a new quilter but I learned to quilt watching MSQ on you tube, I also subscribe to her magazine. I buy from her regularly and they have the best customer service. Jenny and her staff are excellent teachers on you tube.

I loved the bordered squares she has on youtube. I decided to make that pattern, but not using the layer cakes. I cut a different size and used only 3 different fabrics. It is so fun to put together. It's a nice 9 patch and since I needed a larger quilt for my DD#2 the increased size is working out great. I will add a couple of outside borders still to increase it more. Then planning to hand quilt it. Jenny and Eleanor Burns are two of my favs to watch.

I was a BAAAADDD girl this morning!!! Couldn't sleep and at 1 am when I got their DD email, I already had a cart full of goodies and hit the submit button :D Order is already showing as "Printed" and hopefully it'll ship soon! I love their Daily Deals, especially when they offer free shipping and bonus Quilter's Cash! Just couldn't help myself!!
|
Going to have to check out their deals! Love her videos! She makes it sooo much easier!! :-)
|
I like the site too. The daily deals are wonderful and I have to stop looking at them from time to time to stop from buying all the time? I have looked at a couple of their tutorials and really liked them.
|
I enjoy watching but am not obsessed
|
Oh I love to watch her. She makes it all seem to easy. I'm a beginner and this has been really helpful to me.
|
I, too am a Jenny fan. I love the story, the tutorials, her enthusiasm, and the daily deals. I like that she always seems to find a faster and easier way of doing things.
|
I haven't seen the videos, but I recently ordered from them, and their 'your order has shipped' email was such a scream. I had decided, when placing my order, that it must be a really fun place to work, because the person I talked to was the nicest, most cheerful phone order person I've ever encountered. I definitely look forward to ordering again. I don't seem to find much time for on-line videos, unless I'm specifically looking for help for a particular technique.
|
I discovered Jenny's tutorials about 2 or 3 years ago and have made at least a dozen quilts based on her videos. She is just a joy to watch, that I've watched many videos several times. It's kind of funny to go back and look at some of her earlier videos where she was less animated. She did a lot of basic sewing videos in the beginning about things like seam allowance, fabric grain, etc.
|
Not obsessed, but I do admire Jenny and her family for all working together and bringing a small town back to life. I'm also a huge fan of Eleanor Burns (since attending a weekend retreat in the 1980's). El's story is also one of determination and good cheer despite some personal setbacks. Both women are pathfinders and inspire me.
