Wow, I thought I was the only one like this. I would rather be quilting than anything else. I showed my DH the calluses on my fingers the other day from hand quilting. I am fighting the urge to start something new while working on the two now in progress. So I ditto the AMEN

All I want to do is quilt!
Can I get an amen on that?

Oh Yeah!!! You should see my living room. Heidi was giving her "baby" shaken baby syndrome last night and I have fiberfill all over the place. In addition to all the dog hair rolling around the floor. I have been thankful that no one has come to see me. I have been keeping the kitchen cleaned up, only because I haven't been cooking. Today it MUST be cleaned or I will get lost in the clutter and fuzz.

Sounds normal to me.

SoozeeDoozee 01-29-2011 07:18 AM

As the years roll by, I find I can put up with a less clean house. However, ladies are coming for tea on Tuesday, so tomorrow is cleaning day... after church, so there are a couple more Amen's to add to the chorus.

Caroline S 01-29-2011 07:26 AM

Amen, Amen, Amen!!! I think the cure would be to reward yourself each time you did a household chore. Go to the store, quilt. Walk the dogs, quilt. Feed the dogs and people, quilt. Wash dishes, quilt. I think you get the idea.

Another idea while having to do household chores is to plan the next trip to the fabric store. I keep a list ( I am an obsessive list maker) on my fridge on which I write my to do's and to buy's for both the house and quilting.

judy_68 01-29-2011 07:27 AM

If I just didn't have to work 50 hours a week. grrrr

Aurora 01-29-2011 07:40 AM

Girl, I feel your pain. If you were closer I would loan you a machine and help bottle feed those kids. Then we could sew together. What is that saying? Something like "More hands, make quick work."

MadP 01-29-2011 07:52 AM

I have the answer!!!! More hours in the day!!! Seems so simple, I don't know why we didn't think of it before!
So sorry you have the disease - you know there is no known cure! Wish I could help, but I seem to be up to my own elbows in it!

Marvel 01-29-2011 11:30 AM

Sounds like a perfect day to me. I am not the driver here. I even got this answer the other day. I quilt in a group once a week. He said Funny but you always move faster and get up and ready in a flash on Thursday! In the spirit of Peace I let it slide. Marvel

Yes indeedeee doo.......you are officially one of us. It will even out eventually when you are contacted for the reality show "Dirty Housewives of South Texas" LOL. Until that time, not to worry. You have plenty of company here.

Seriously, this is a God-given gift that we have, a talent with a purpose. If you think of it that way and present it to anyone who objects in that way, how could they object. You know something else? That housework is all just vanity; you'll be cleaning the same place next week and next month and next year and in the meantime, you will have wasted your talent. Quilts last, housework doesn't.

aronel 01-29-2011 12:59 PM

Welcome to my world........!!

I agree, it is my gift-it's what I'm really good at. Apparently, I struck a chord with all of y'all! If "Dirty Housewives" shows up, I'll just proudly show them my sewing room and my quilts. (the ones I don't give away!)

Jo Mama 01-29-2011 01:18 PM

AMEN

polly13 01-29-2011 01:18 PM

We are in FL for two months. Between family here and company it isn't worth bringing my sewing machine. I do bring knitting and read lots of books, but you quilters keep me fed until I get home. I can hardly wait.

Luv Quilts and Cats 01-29-2011 01:33 PM
