:D :D :D You won't believe this girls! Hubby picked up my new to me bernina from the quilt store a few minutes ago and while there he bought me the walking foot! You could have blown me over with a feather! I had told him about pricing them and gawking at the price, about two weeks ago! Who would have ever believed he would remember to even know what to ask for!

What a surprise! I would have never bought this after spending so much money in the last few months on my machine quilting table, new (to me) artista 180 machine, additional feet, cleaning, patterns, fabric, ect, ect.

I am so very happy I could just float! This from a man that once asked, if you sew in reverse, does it take the stitches out? My Lord he does listen to me!

beachlady 03-02-2009 01:27 PM

He is a keeper!! Love the reverse scenario!

sewnsewer2 03-02-2009 01:34 PM

LOL, I too love the reverse thing

What a sweetheart. Which one did he get you, the 180? I have a 640 E and love it :D

Jim's Gem 03-02-2009 01:36 PM

RedGarnet222 03-02-2009 02:47 PM

Thank you all so much for sharing this with me! I am stunned ... really! After twenty some years of thinking he never listens, he does something like this. He is a great guy though after all these years, don't get me wrong. I just have to give him credit where it is deserved now!

I think it was his brush with death almost a year ago to the day that has made the difference.

littlehud 03-02-2009 03:12 PM

He is a keeper. What a wonderful surprise. Give him a big hug and kiss.

jacquemoe 03-02-2009 08:43 PM

What a wonderful man you have there. Okay, what did you do to earn all that? LOL You are lucky in more than one way. Really, a man that listens????

Mousie 03-02-2009 08:55 PM

LOL...i'd like a machine that goes in 'that' reverse too! lucky girl :D

RedGarnet222 03-02-2009 09:03 PM

Yes you are all right ... He is the tops! He is really special, always has been. But, I am sure you gals have special guys too. Like attracts like ... right? I haven't known very many quilter's that weren't special people with wonderfully big hearts.

Ha ha ha I didn't do anything different that I know of. Lol!

Thanks ever so much for celebrating with me. I LOVE good surprises.

Mousie 03-03-2009 05:49 AM

yeah, much as I love mine and won't trade him in, now that I got him broke in...did what I could  ....I never met the male creature that listened closer than 'survival rate'...and sometimes they push that limit!!!

Barbm 03-03-2009 06:16 AM

He's definitely a keeper!

Hubby tells everyone of my "obsession" but does it jokingly. He doesn't complain, only that his quilt is not done yet!

My hobby doesn't spill into the household budget so he can't complain. And I've contained it- I only occupy one room now.

pittsburgpam 03-03-2009 07:49 AM

I had to cover my mouth to muffle the laugh about the reverse stitching... everyone is still asleep right near me in the living room.

How wonderful for you... about the machine AND the husband!

RedGarnet222 03-03-2009 08:05 AM

I just love how you girls understand how this would make you feel. Most people would just say,"Oh that's nice", while you are jumping up and down with glee inside like a five year old. Kinda spoiling the whole thing, ya know? BIG, big hugs to you all you sweet ladies.

Now I have to think of something that would just tickle him beyond belief like he has done for me. Oh Oh I know! I think I will clean up the garage! It isn't real bad, but, I need to purge many boxes of stored memories from there and make a donation to salvation army. He will not believe that act. what do you girls think? enough? :?:

alaskasunshine 03-03-2009 09:14 AM

I am thrilled for you! My husband does have a brother! LOL That is something myhusband would do.

I bought some fabric to make a friend of mine a quilt. I am a flowery kinda girl, she is not. So I bought a bunch of batiks. I had asked my husband first if it was o.k. We are really strapped for a while. He said to be reasonable but gave me the go ahead. I spent $107.00. OMGoodness! I told him what I had spent and he looked at me rather sad and said the fabric I had seen at a local shop on sale and drooled over we could not afford now. He said he had wanted to buy it for me for Valentines day. Oh I was sad but knew I needed to get the fabric for my friend. Well on Valentines day he gave me a package and there it was,the very fabric I LOVED. I didn't even think he really paid attention to me when I showed it to him! Our guys are wonderful!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Enjoy your man!
Have a great day,
Sunshine

Have a wonderful day!

:D You have the perfect picture, RedGarnet. We are all jumping up and down for you. You know how we all LOVE fabrics and all the doo dads that go with, and to have a hubby that might not quite get it, but gets the part where it's special to us...WOW...like my hubby teasing me that my sewing room is "my cave"..."honey...you in the cave?" lol...then building me shelves for Christmas and letting me get a new machine. These are the things that make up for all those 'drive me crazy' guy things they sometimes do. We wouldn't want them to be just like us anyway...if they started buying fabric, too, where would we sit?
I think, if cleaning the garage would please and surprise him, that would be perfect. I think he would get the part that you wanted to do something that meant something to him, just like he did for you.
How sweet, like the honeymoon days of, "no, honey, what would you like to do...where do you want to eat,...what movie do you want to see? what makes your little heart go pitter pat?" :D :D :D

RedGarnet222 03-04-2009 09:35 AM

Thanks so much ladies! Your the best ..... Really!

I am glad to hear other gals on the board have had thier hubby's surprise them lately. My hubby would never go and have fabric cut for me. He would just give me a certificate or something. That is one special guy you have there alaskasunshine.

Tee hee hee the discription of the honeymoon talking is so funny, Quiltncrazy.

Debbie1 03-05-2009 08:48 AM

He sounds like a really great guy - hang on to him! And to think they never listen to you!

okie3 03-05-2009 12:33 PM

Keep That Man!!!

hulahoop1 03-05-2009 01:07 PM

My husband did nearly the same for me when my little Bernina 810 "passed away" last year after 29 years. Inconsolable and unable to live without a sewing machine, he told me to go get a replacement and I chose the Bernina Aurora 430. Then he very quietly paid the off the credit card bill for Mother's Day. Love him to pieces!

Feathers 03-05-2009 01:19 PM

Sounds like that man is a real KEEPER! I'm happy for you. My DH is the BEST, too.

JoanneS 03-05-2009 08:27 PM

I agree on the reverse sewing. Makes me think of the Sit and Sew where we created a new wish list for the next greatest sewing machine. One woman wanted a clock on hers. I want one that 'un'sews. Just think of the hours that would save!

nantucketsue 03-06-2009 05:45 AM

He is a treasure. No chance of my man doing anything like that. He rings my daughters to find out what he can get me for birthdays. I would be happy with a quilt shop voucher or magazine subscription. In my dreams.

Bevanger 03-06-2009 10:28 AM

your lucky kiddo :D

kd124 03-06-2009 10:57 PM

What a great guy.

Barb M 03-07-2009 01:17 AM

Awe, that is so awesome!!! Soooo cool how he surprised you. Yes, my hubby NEVER does sewing surprises either lol, so last week when i made a sewing blunder, he spent 3 hours! helping me audition and find a fabric substitute...couldnt believe it....oh and god, LOVE your reverse story!!!!! LOL LOL LOL

key4unc 03-07-2009 01:20 AM

What a great hubby you have. And don't we all wish it was that easy to take out the stitches--LOL
