I saw on a you tube, a helpful tip on making your corners turn out almost perfect.. It was using Elmer,s glue with a fine metal tip.. I have went to several LQS looking for the tip that fits on the glue bottle. They did not know of one that fit on a glue bottle. It was a Sharon Schamber video. I went to her site and could not find it there. I e-mailed her but as of yet have not gotten a reply. It has been 21/2 weeks. I have done a search, got a lot of different types of tip but they are not the she had..Thank you all for help.

Do a Google search for "ultra fine tip glue applicator"
Dozens of hits. Here are a couple, the descriptions mention use for quilting. Are these the right ones?: http://www.joann.com/joann/catalog/p...ODID=xprd72728 http://www.amazon.com/Ultrafine-Appl.../dp/B000WWM6R6 |
My little Elmers Glue bottle has a rounded tip, but if I barely loosen it, just a little glue comes out. For the Alene's OK to Wash It, I did purchase some metal tips online (no store had any including craft stores). None of the three fit on to stay. Someone suggested taking apart a mechanical pencil and using its plastic tip. I had to tape it on but it worked well! Now I've learned just to make the tiniest hole in glue bottles and use an old SM needle to put in it between uses.
If you really want to try the metal tips, PM me and they're yours for the price of postage - letter size envelope. |
Wow, thanks for the information

In order to get the long metal tip I ended up buying the glue at a LQS. You can find short metal tips in craft stores, but I wanted the long metal tip. Good luck.
Forgot to mention you need to look in the decorative painting departments at craft stores. Kat |
The ones Sharon Schamber uses are out of stock on her website:
http://www.sharonschamber.com/shoppi...ccessories.htm (Under the Supreme Slider) I've been reusing an old Roxanne glue bottle. Thanks for the Joann's link, I'll check it out next time I'm there. Michael's didn't have anything that was ultra-fine. |
Try Michael's if you've got one nearby. In the aisle with the acrylic paints is where I found a package of 2 small, empty bottles with fine point metal tips. I just squeeze my glue into those bottles.

The metal tip aren't really necessary and are a pain in the neck to clean. Just barely open the Elmers and put little dots on the fabric. I have been using glue a lot in different applications. If you are doing bindings that you want to hand stitch down, make sure you press the binding after glueing as that will keep it from getting hard.

Hi, Is this post good timming or what. I to have been looking for the metal tip. Thanks BrendaK

A few years ago, I found metal glue tips in a hobby shop located near the glues. Good luck!

I got a small bottle and metal tips at Michaels after seeing Sharon Schamber's video. The same technique works GREAT for binding, BTW.

Thanks to all of you. I have learned a lot of tips and tricks on here..All are so helpful..
|
Here's the one I use with Roxanne's glue or Elmer's Washable School Glue:
http://www.softexpressions.com/softw...t/Accssry5.php If you soak the metal tip in nail polish remover or rubbing alcohol for a couple of hours, they're very easy to clean. |
You can find these tips at a rubber stamp store.
|
I ordered from Purple Daisies, her daughter. They were out of them for a while but have since got some in. I received some from her, she does take a little bit longer to mail out her orders.
|
You can also use the metal tip from an old mechanical pencil or ballpoint pen. You can actually screw it on the tip of the Elmer's glue bottle.

I'm not sure if I have the old invoice or not but will check and see, I will not have time today, or the weekend, because preparing food and memorial cards for a church member's memorial service, but I will look. PM me next week some time. |
My question is, once you find the tips, how do you keep them from clogging up after each use? I've done everything I can think of, washed with hot water, stuck a thin strip of wood as far down as it would go in the tip and still it's clogged.
How do you folks keep the glue from hardening in the metal tip??? |
I had several old printer ink refills. The ink washed right out of the plastic squeeze bottles and I filled it with Elmer's. The tips are long and thin and very strong. Looks just like the Roxann'e squeeze bottle. It's worth buy Roxanne's glue for the bottle and tip. I bought Sharon's tips at purpledaisies.com. They fit the Elmer's glue bottle perfectly.
|
I found the tip/top clogged even though I spent alot of time cleaning it. Now I put a drop of glue on a plate and use a toothpick to apply it. works well
|
Try Roxanne's glue baste it. It comes with a fine tip nozzle.
|
look in your paints dept of craft stores, you can get an assortment of tips(in one package) that go on small paint bottles, -one fits the glue bottles.I have the assortment and use it on glitter glues, paints and Elmer's .

I found mine at Michael's. I think Clotilde sells some also.
|
I use the Roxanne's bottle too and love it. I plan on refilling it when I use up the original glue in it.

try a q-tip dipped in a little liquid cooking oil and rub on tip before using and when finished dip a pin or tooth pick or whatever you can find to fit in tip in oil and put in end of tip, works for me and remember very little oil i use this trick for any bottle or jar lid that sticks or clogs |
Right after I use Roxanne's Baste-It bottle with the long needle tip, I run hot water over it/through it (might need to let it lay in hot water for a few minutes). Then I put my mouth against the cap end and blow through it to clear the glue and water. It is then stored off the bottle until the next use. Roxanne's comes with a lid to close it. I can also insert a long pin into the needle.
The bottles I bought at Michael's have the needle which screws directly onto the plastic nozzle of the bottle. I haven't taken it off, because I don't know if it would stay on the second time it was attached. A little wire comes with it, so I leave it in the needle. However, I think the wire will rust over time. Soooo....in my opinion, the best option is to buy Roxanne's glue in order to refill the bottle when empty. |
