I found a Grace frame for sale on Craigs list. I contacted to woman about it and she said there is someone else comming to look at it tomorrow and if she doesn't take it she will contact me to come see it. I find myself hoping the other woman wakes up to a flat tire. Am I mean or would you do that too?

DebraK 04-09-2010 07:38 PM

I might send up my prayer in a different manner ;-)

Charlee 04-09-2010 07:47 PM

I don't think you're mean...I'd hunt her down somehow and supply the nail! ;)

jetnica 04-09-2010 07:49 PM

or that hubby tells her no!!!

the bf told me NO! when there was a complete set (frame and longarm) on craigslist for $700 total.

i cried.

Candace 04-09-2010 08:36 PM

Or you could do what the lady did to me...say, I'll come and see it and buy it right now. Then, I got the so sorry e-mail and the lady got the machine I wanted because she sweet talked to get in, in front of me. LOL.

now that's mean.

BellaBoo 04-09-2010 09:17 PM

If it was a great bargain I would have said I'll give you more then the asking price if you'll sell it to me now.

MadQuilter 04-09-2010 09:17 PM

Careful with the karma.

ForestHobbit 04-09-2010 09:20 PM

If you are meant to have it it will be there waiting for you. That is how I look at it so that when someone else gets what I wanted I could live without it and not be a total witch. LOL It works most of the time.

BellaBoo 04-09-2010 09:39 PM

I never find anything good on Craig's List in my area.

earthwalker 04-09-2010 09:41 PM

I'm with Madquilter on the karma factor.

Ninnie 04-10-2010 12:58 AM

On the other hand, you might wonder why she didn't take it, if there was something wrong with it :-D

Yeah I saw a painting once that I liked. Hubby told me no. It looks great over my couch, I ADMIRE IT EVERY MORNING.
Well I am happy to see I am not the only one. I don't think I will worry about the carma. I really do beleive it will be there if it is meant for me. I just really wanted to stir the pot.

lol - he won!! no longarm/frame for me.

dglvr 04-10-2010 07:52 AM

Yeap me to. Good luck. Alot of people say I'll be over to see it and don't show up.. Hopefully this will be 1 of those times.

IrishNY 04-10-2010 08:17 AM

No, you're not mean - you're human. As long as you only wish something happens that means the other buyer turns it down, and don't actually try to make it happen, you're doing what 99% of the population would do. You're just more honest. ;-)

kwhite 04-10-2010 09:55 AM

Well no e-mail yet but the day isn't over either.

Hubby learned early on to negotiate with me rather then tell me. Telling me to do something is a sure fire way to get me to dig in my heels and do the opposite. We were at dinner once and a girl friend of mine saw something and she said "my husband would never LET ME have that". Even my husband laughed. Her husband did not laugh. He glared. I wonder what ever happened to her. I don't think we have seen them from that night 10 or so years ago to this.

BellaBoo 04-10-2010 10:04 AM

I never hear No from DH because I don't ever ask him. ;-)

"I WILL be good and think happy thoughts - I WILL be good and think happy thoughts"

sandpat 04-11-2010 05:46 AM

Well....my 90 something yr. old lovely MIL told me one time...."they can stop me from actually doing it, but they can't stop me from THINKING it!!"....She was talking about my SIL telling her that she couldn't use swear words in her house....I still laugh about it...And, I think it applies here too k...

merryhare 04-11-2010 06:22 AM

Wow! Here it is whoever gets there first gets the item! Nobody waits until the next day for someone who called first.

Charlee 04-11-2010 06:24 AM

Mine tried ONE time to tell me, "I don't remember telling you that you could do that..."

I simply replied with a glare and, "I don't remember asking! When did I start calling you "Daddy"? "

Nuff was said...like KWhite...he will try negotiation, but he's aware that I'm an adult, I make money too, and I'm not going to be "ruled" by him or anyone else.

As for Karma...I believe in it to a point...I don't believe that it applies to joking around when no real harmful intent is involved.

cassie69emt 04-11-2010 06:29 AM

I ahve to say this , my hubby and I found a deal on Craigslist called and told them we WOULD buy it no questions asked because we lived two hours away fro where it was. On our way there we kept in touch via cellphone with the people, he never once said don't bother I sold it out from under you . We finally arrived and here is another guy loading it on his truck, my husband went up to the guy selling it and said , excuse me but I told you we were buying it no questions asked, the guy proceeds to tell us well this guy got here first. Let me tell you it wasn't hubby that went off , it was me because I was the one talking to the guy on the phone I told him he would get his and he wouldn't like it when it comes his turn.I am sorry if it makes someone upset if you tell them I have someone looking at it first but more people need to be like that. I know if they were this world we live in would be so much better, just like the good ole days when no one had to lock your doors and neighbors were neighbors there to help you out when you needed it.Sorry just my opinion .

No I don't think you are mean; I found one on craigslist too. Sent the person two emails and they haven't responded. At least your's answered you and gave you a glimmer of hope. I'm hoping mine has been on vacation and not just ignoring me.

Hi Kwhite...you aren't mean but I have to tell you, I didn't have a flat tire this morning................

just kidding, it wasn't me after that Grace frame!

;-) ;) ;)

mjsylvstr 04-11-2010 08:01 AM

I am away for the winter and a friend back home wrote and told all the ladies in our quilting group that she is moving due to husbands job and can't take her Grace frame....

it could be anyone's taking for the going and taking it apart and taking it home with them....

I am too far away for that possibility. I am hoping that one of the ladies took the opportunity or perhaps took it to the church where we quilt, and we all will be able to benefit from her loss......

Will find out soon who the lucky person might be.......but I know it isn't me!!!!!

kwhite 04-11-2010 08:19 AM

Well no e-mail to say yea or nay. So I assume I didn't get it. Oh well. We have started a gret convo here so it was all worth it.

I think I'd give her a call anyway -- she might have lost your email...

trupeach1 04-11-2010 08:25 AM

Just remember what comes around goes around......and sometimes the going around is worse. If you are meant to get it you will but I feel you shouldn't wish bad things on a person even if it is only a flat tire.

kwhite 04-11-2010 08:35 AM

Well it was sold. Unfortunatly. Oh well if I am meant to have one I will have one.

So sorry  But don't give up -- keep looking! I'm sure you'll find one that you want that is better for you than that one :D
