I'm up and moving! Vacuuming done! Did some stretching, one and two touch those toes! Yesterdays sew-a-thon has left me a little stiff this morning, been up since 3 because of it. So a little of the snake that bit me. Will have the top finished today! Just a little reminder to change those needles and clean out the bobbin area before we start today. Everytime you get up to empty the bladder stretch, touch those toes(or knees)! Arms over the head....and stretch...Dont it feel good!? I think we get so caught up in sewing that we forget about us. Prevention on us and our machines, one wont work without the other. Turn the radio on...(micheal jackson) "ABC...Its as easy as Do-re-me..

Ok now sit in sewing chair grab the seat on the left side with both hands and twist your upper half to the left...stretch....hold it....lets do the other side.....stretch...feels good. Ok now put the peddle to the metal and lets get these stitches-a-stomping!

Have a great day! Happy Stitching!

PegD 01-24-2011 03:55 AM

leatheflea 01-24-2011 04:04 AM

Good advice...I'm 68 and can still lay the palms of my hands on the floor(not as long as a few years ago and feel it more now). Use it or lose it! I need to get away from the computer and get the coffee. Thanks for the pep talk.

grammydar 01-24-2011 04:17 AM

Oh my I wish I could get off this board and do those stretches.
This is sooooo addicting.
Kids have a 2 hr delay, it's COLD out there.
Then maybe I'll get something done.

leatheflea 01-24-2011 04:38 AM

Come on get up! I dont wanna here your excuses, excuses are like my bladder, cant hold water!...LOL It takes as much time as lifting that cornbread to your mouth( thats what I'm having for breakfast here in a little bit). Ok sitting at your puter....put that left let up on the desk...straighten out...thats it...it may not be straight..but darn it feels good to get the blood moving! Darnit...I gotta resew some blocks...you girls keep stretching even if you cant pull yourself away from the puter.

champagnebubbles 01-24-2011 04:39 AM

Thanks for the morning push! <-----waving arms over my head:)

SLHughes 01-24-2011 04:53 AM

Not sure where you get all of your energy first thing in the morning ... but could you send some my way, please???

Happy Stitching or Sewing today everyone whenever you have a chance.

All a great day :)

quiltinghere 01-24-2011 05:06 AM

GOOD MORNING to you! :) I'm a big stretcher too - especially in the morning and often throughout the day.

When sewing I have my ironing board and cutting area away from my sewing machine, so I'm hardly sitting for long lengths of time.

I use a clock radio that has the 1 HOUR sleep timer on it. I press it - sew during that hour - and when the radio shuts off I do something else for a few minutes... flip a load of laundry, run upstairs for food or drink, walk the tread mill for a few minutes...you get the idea.

I agree - use it or lose it!

bamamama 01-24-2011 05:14 AM

Ok, Ok, I'm up and moving! Thanks for the motivation.

thequiltmama 01-24-2011 05:15 AM

You ladies are insane...but I love it :-)

What a great idea, I just watch the clock and get up and move after an hour and a half, but I try to stretch more often, anytime. Setting the timer on stove so I have to get up and shut it off...1 hour...here we go!

susiequilt 01-24-2011 05:28 AM

I'm afraid it's too late, I've already lost it!

Oh, so don't give me all this cheerful stuff! Go back to bed!  I spent the whole night dreaming about how I am going to finish off my QAYG quilt. Don't like the way the instructions say to do it, so was trying to come up with a better way. I woke up with my hands so sore they feel like clubs. This is my errand day, so I probably won't be quilting. Too busy out "getting exercise" walking through WalMart.

Oh, I always do! I was already out walking the dogs this morning at 7 AM & the thermometer said -5 degrees. Don't laugh, I am not exaggerating any of this. My daily exercise is going up and down the basement stairs. My sewing room is in the basement and I keep my drink in the kitchen. I counted one day and I go up and down at least 20 times a day. Good cardio.

BellaBoo 01-24-2011 06:24 AM

I have a sew day today so I'll be moving right on out the door. I love my sewdays.

leatheflea 01-24-2011 07:01 AM

Gran of 6, not laughing at all I so glad to hear that your keeping on the move. I try to get outside everyday for at least 2 minutes. Its easier during the week. On the weekend honeys home and...you know men. I just spend time with him. I always park in the back of the lot no matter where I am. Before I lost my job they would make fun of me because I would park in the very last row. From my car to my area was about a 1/4 or more. Rainy day or not, I park in the back. Well I think I'll bundle up now and go out for a walk in the woods, the temp should be up to about 20 by now.

Have a good day ya'all!

Well, since Gus had his ACL surgery he has to be walked on leash at all times, so I am outside about every 2 hours. I have a fenced in yard so they are used to going out whenever they want. Now that is coming back to bite me. But at least I am getting fresh air and walking in the snow at least 3 times around the yard on each outing. Plus having to keep the back deck and ramp free of snow. I am pushing 70 and have always kept active. Have fun on your walk.

Jan, I agree with you. I will do what I feel like doing, most times nothing. It was -5 this morning at 7 AM when I took the dogs out. We are not used to this cold. I am originally from Mich so it doesn't bother me.

Melinda in Tulsa 01-24-2011 09:21 AM

OMG, you are making me exhausted just listening to you. I think I'm heading back to bed...

PegD 01-24-2011 09:38 AM

Ok, so you got me moving today. Got the rest of the kitchen/diningroom/livingroom painted. Where will you be tomorrow morning when I have to move all the furniture back.

Before I moved to "podunk, indiana" I rode a bike everyday no matter what the weather, even after working 10+ hours a day. I've road once here. Country drivers are the worst. Honey says hes gonna get me one of those orange flags on a big long stick to put on my bike...LOL. I'm not a health nut I just "try".

I saw her site after someone posted it here. I pretty much live that way everyday. No clutter, beds made everyday...blah..blah..blah. Today cleaned the oven, and stretched the back and legs! Ran up and down the stairs doing laundry, cardio! Gotta keep moving gals....Its good for the mind, body and spirit. Now get up and type while stretching your back and legs! Feels good! Time to move the furniture and layer that new quilt top. This is good for the upper body! Musics coming on and Rush Linbaugh is getting turned off. Dancing time! Hopefully by tomarrow night I'll have this girl quilted. Oops! Gotta make a loaf of bread first!

Murphy 01-24-2011 10:06 PM

Thank you for this healthy reminder!!!

C.Cal Quilt Girl 01-24-2011 10:39 PM

Thanks for the inspirational pep talk !! Does laughing at this thread count as cardio ?? ;)
With todays bonus of more progress on a charity quilt.
Think I'll skip the coffee and go for the Dr Pepper with a water chaser !!
Burr... I feel for you all in the rough weather right now, stay safe and warm !!

Yooper32 01-25-2011 04:43 AM

I am fast approaching 79 and can't put the full palms of my hands on the floor, but can up to the big knuckles. Does that half qualify? Now just watch, some 90 yr. old is gonna come along and tell us that she still does cartwheels.
