I am just now reorganizing my sewing room. I am not sure if you saw the pics of my floor before doing it over, but I set up my big machine and frame, which led me to reorganizing.

I bought a new bookcase and I am going to be buying fabric sheets from either BCW or Polar Notions to organize my fabric. It will look like a quilt shop. My sewing tables where my sewing machines are were filled with stuff, so I bought a shelving unit to organize some of the things that don't belong on my sewing tables. Added more lighting in the corner where my sewing machines are because my room is in the basement. My husband added one more table so that I could sew facing out towards my room instead of facing the wall. That is about it for now.

I would love to help but if you could see my bedroom ( it's where I keep my stash) you would realize I am no help. I can't wait to see the suggestions though. Maybe some will help me too.

LOL Terri. It is a myth and I am trying to catch the myth.

DH built a small shelf unit to hang on the wall next to my sewing machine. I can set my coffee/tea cup up there and not worry about knocking it over with whatever I'm working on. I also have a cork board on the wall to hang patterns when I need to refer to them.

Have fun!

When I had things organized, I used cubby shelves that stack. They were great for laying flatfolds and sorting by color. I had three units stacked and four across. The shelves were deep enough to place the flatfolds in the shelves with just enough to see all the fabrics. I thought that would be the end of what I needed to be organized. It worked for a while!

I have fat quarters stacked on end in bankers boxes, by color.

I have more fabric than shelves now that I have started buying bolts!
I need to do more sewing and use what I have! :?

I am still in the progress of getting organized, but the DH made me this on the table saw for my rulers. Works great.

I have 2 white plastic peg boards that I bought at Lowe's. One hangs behind my sewing machine. I use it for thread, scissors, and marking tools. The other one hangs on the wall behind the door. I use that one for stencils and rulers.
