That's funny. My husband and I KNOW NOT to put our stuff in each others storage place no matter what it is.

Bernie942 01-05-2011 08:08 AM

I'd have to say it's just the opposite here. No empty space or corner survives. Spend all day cleaning out a corner in his room and he immediately finds something to drag in and fill it up.

JudeWill 01-05-2011 08:33 AM

Too funny! Way to go, wife!

BettyGee 01-05-2011 10:57 AM

You should talk to my husband, he claims I can find an empty space any place, any time, anywhere and you know what? He's right!

CorgiNole 01-05-2011 11:07 AM

Hey - you were silly enough to leave empty space unattended. My husband will sympathize with you - every time he takes a suit out of our closet he finds that he needs to put it into a different closet once he is done wearing it...

Empty storage (in clean settings) is like a magnet to crafters.

Cheers, K

You now that in a marriage, what is yours is hers, and what is hers is hers. Just works that way

Amen Brother. I may be a traitor to my gender but fabric storage space is sacred!

Catherine Marie 01-05-2011 01:57 PM

OK, I gotta ask- How long was your shower?????

I have to agree with Featherweight .. his would be mine too !LOL

Alondra 01-05-2011 03:11 PM

I agree with Cjmomma - nature abhors a vacuum. <G> I can see this a potentially volatile situation, but I know you'll think of some way to resolve it... like buying yourself a new cabinet, maybe? <G>

When my parents moved into their new house (downsized), Mom cleaned and set up an area for her sewing. After all that hard work, Dad decided it was perfect for him to tinker with his clocks and began to set it up for such.

penski 01-05-2011 04:07 PM

sounds fair to me !!! of coarse that is if she said Thank you for cleaning it out for her

marlene tarzwell 01-05-2011 04:51 PM

My DH knows better to leave a space anyplace. He knows me very well after 36 yrs. GOTTA LUV EM!!!!!

jan22 01-05-2011 04:54 PM

Would she allow me to borrow you to do the same for me, I'm running out of room for fabric. The only place left here is the dish washer, and since I never use it- would it be ok to fill it with fabric??

Tudey 01-05-2011 05:00 PM

sounds about right to me!

After seeing your beautiful hand quilted quilt she should have just known that space had your name on it. Since you are the quilter and you cleaned the space out for yourself she should have to move her stuff out!

So what did she fill it with?

She makes jewelry, and VERY into jigsaw puzzles. So it is full of her yet to do puzzles and books and supplies for her jewelry
Reading over everyones posts about this to some it seems I am upset about this, I didn't mean to come across this way. We had a good laugh AND she gave me back ONE draw. LOL All she as to do is give me her sad puppy dog eyes and I'm all done LOL
David

Oh David, you should've known better! You left a open usable space around a quilter. How long have you been married? You're either learning the hard way or you have forgotten the rules.LOL

Then your quilter would be real happy, with 2 cabinets!Seriously, next time maybe you should ask her to shower with you. Then you would know she wasn't putting fabric in your space.Would still be a win-win situation.

Marvel 01-05-2011 06:02 PM

I am so sure that she really appreciated all of your hard work in preparing a place for her. lol By the way have you considered asking her to show you how, and or joining her in this quilt challanging obsession? Good Luck. Marvel

Cindy Lou Who 01-05-2011 09:36 PM

David,
This is too funny tonight!! I'm sitting at the dining rm table covered in my junk, and still need to uncover the breakfast bar in the kitchen - also covered with "my junk".

And he actually told me tonight I should use 2 rooms in the basement for sewing instead of the one I'm in now. Had he lost his mind momentarily??
If the space is there - it's ours!! Girls rule on this one - as our daughter would say!

Cindy

seasaw2mch 01-05-2011 10:23 PM

well did you ever think that she might be sharing her stuff with you or maybe she just filled it up so you could find a use for it. Seems to me that is how I would take it. So just tell her thanks for adding to your stash and see how fast she moves it out!

PS Still ROFLMAO You won the big stash lottery and don't even know it!

annette1952 01-05-2011 10:43 PM

LOL!!!

rona thickpenny 01-05-2011 11:14 PM

SPUNKY LADY LOL

Annaquilts 01-05-2011 11:17 PM

Uh David, not sure what to say. At one time I had DH and my dressers in the bedroom emptied out and he was reduced to some hanging space in the walk in closet and a night stand. I had hanging space and a box. LOL The rest had quilt stuff and books. He likes his quilts though.

katigirl 01-05-2011 11:57 PM

unless she filled it with fabric and supplies, throw the bum out. lol.

katigirl 01-05-2011 11:59 PM

tell her next time to fill with fabric and stuff for you and then you won't say a word of complaint to her or want the space back. lol.

butterflywing 01-07-2011 01:28 PM

Obviously you will have to purchase another storage unit!

That sounds like my husband. I bought 3 pattern cabinets at my LQS. When I brought them home guess who griped and griped. Then when I wanted to use them, he had them all installed in his studio and had photography stuff in them!
