I have the bedroom upstairs, and i spill into the large hallway and if my DD or DDIL come to sew we have the whole upstairs used. Once in a while I bring my cutting down to the large island counter in the kitchen but i get scolded and go back upstairs. I almost wish my sewing was not in the house so I could go to my sewing without being interrupted to do other things in the house........................................

I hearya.
When I had my own house to myself the Enya album was cranked up so I could hear it over the quilter.

Now I'm moved and have others living here, so although it's my house, I do accommodate what the others need for the time being, so needless to say I have no sewing room nor certainly no quilter room.

BUT I am working on getting them all married off Again so they will move to their own homes and leave me to mine.

I think really that they think they are keeping mom company in her old age, but "being alone" is not "being lonely." Like, I could always go and pester them if I wanted company!!

Thursdays I go to a hotel conference room with a bunch of quilting friends, mainly just for sewing company with like minded people. My husband and daughter don't understand why I pay money to go sew elsewhere when I have my own room for sewing/quilting.

Oh me too Amma....I finally took the plunge yesterday & moved my sewing/scrap rm from a bedrm to the front living rm. we never use it. The rm was decorated very nicely & the cats loved it..lol..but it kept bugging me that big rm just going to waste....not any more...I will post new pics when I am completely done moving everything. I won't lie it was a huge job...it meant distributing all the furniture that was in the front living to different parts of the house, getting rid of 2 couchs that were in family rm.
Whew I was tired last night...I highly suggest having at least one young stud to help move the big stuff....espically if you live in a older house where the big stuff has to go out the front dr & around the house through the backyd and back in through wide sliding glass dr way. Yes huge job but I am crossing my fingers I will be much happier w/ the new arrangement and if I am not I will keep my mouth shut. LOL!

I was going to say the same thing....I would end up selling the house and just move in that lil grown up play house. lol

When we decided to have kids, we had to clear out the spare bedroom to the the kids' room. My husband emptied the garden shed, finished the inside with linoleum and sheetrock, and I moved my sewing out there. It has an air conditioner for the summers. It seemed like a great idea; a sewing studio of my own!

Now that we have kids (2 and 4), I can't leave them to their own devices in the house and go out to sew, so I have brought my sewing machine inside to sew at the kitchen table. My sewing shed basically serves as stash storage, and I'm always running in and out to get stuff. But at least it's exercise, I guess.

Someday you'll enjoy the sewing shed again when the kids are bigger.

In our home that we sold, I had the garage finished and that was my sewing room, was a bit of a pain running out there in the winter though.

Once we moved here last July, hubby gutted the basement, got rid of the two bedrooms down there and took half the rec room and that's my sewing room. I told him the next time we move we'll need to buy two houses next door to each other and he can build a hallway connecting the two because I'll need one house just for sewing! LOL

Reading this, I've discovered I'm not nearly as obsessed as I had thought! :-) I have taken over the upstairs guest bedroom, but there's one downstairs, so we hope to have only visitors who can do stairs. And the tiny little office was already mine because I'm the only one to use the 'puter, so of course the Husqvarna is in there - and an ironing board which I use as a table extension, for holding fabric while I sew. A bit crowded in here...
