Becca-

Go for it. It does take up a lot of room, but there is no going back.

I'd love a long arm but I'd have to convince DH to move out. Don't think he'd go for that LOL!!

Somewhere on a site I saw a woman who actually built another HOUSE on her property to put all her quilting stuff in.

I wanna be her when I grow up!!!

A girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do!

When I got my quilting frame and machine setup, it occupied the living room, along with my cutting table.

My main sewing area occupied half of the family room. Not the best place since that's where the TV is and where everyone hangs out. I was limited to the times I could sew.

Then I got an embroidery machine and had to put that in one of the back bedrooms.

When our son moved out, I moved my sewing room into his bedroom. Fortunately I was able to move the cutting table and embroidery machine in there also, but the quilting setup stayed in the living room.

My husband is a woodworker and he's trying to convert our garage into a shop but it just isn't enough space. He hasn't started moving stuff into the house yet but I don't think I'd have a complaint leg to stand on it if he did!

I almost covered my screen with pop when I read this! Hubby does woodworking too, and so far has confined himself to the garage and a shed. I shudder at the thought of him trying to move into the house, but like you I wouldn't have a leg to stand on - especially since I have him making quilt hangers and ruler holders for me!

Wow, it is quite an invaiding piece of equipment isn't it?! I am new to quilting and so far I like to hand quilt, but I do other things too! I convinced my DH that we did not need the garage which was right next to the kitchen, we could park the car under a big tree which is in our front yard! We could convert the garage into an art studio for me to paint in!!!!
Now it is full of my paintings, rug making and now my quilting!! It is nice to know that there are others out there just as crazy as I am.!!!!!!

I waited for my bunch to grow up and leave, for a sewing room. After they left, we made an office out of one bedroom, and I started moving my sewing stuff in the other.
Then had to move it all back out again because one of the came back home. Then after she moved out again, I did the same thing. She came back again and I had to move it all out once more. After she left the last time, I moved my mom in with us. Then we made space for my uncle to move it also. Woe is me.

Hubby promised he would close in the back porch for me to have a sewing room. However, his table saw and tools are on the porch now, and he must have a place to put them before he can close in the porch for me.

I keep rearranging my little corner in the office area trying to make it work better. I have a quilting machine coming next week, and guess it will land in the living room.
Don't know where else to put it!
