Okay, folks, I finally have to share my secret--New Machine

Hi, all. Everyone was so kind when I asked advice on machines, remember when I was ready to shoot my Singer Quantum? My husband asked me to research what I really wanted. Then we drove to Cannonsburg, Pa to the closest Janome dealer I could find(approx 50 miles from home, guess we live in the boonies:).The shop is called Sew Much Fun, Sue Gates is the owner, I was looking for a machine to quilt, sew and do a little embroidery, without a lot of cussing and screaming and crying. Sue was so gracious, showed me the different machines, then she and my husband talked me into the Memory Craft 11,00 Special Edition. Only costs about twice as much as I was planning to spend. But both Sue and My DH were RIGHT. I have had it since March 29, 2013. I have probably sewed every day but a couple since then. I have been holding my breath, not telling anyone about my new baby. I was so gun shy, from my other mess. Anyway, THANKS to everyone, and I am having such a good time again. It has done everything I asked it to do, have yet to break a needle, love learning all the new features. Now I have tons of ideas I want to try, especially with the embroidery feature, and Acufill quilting. And the shop is not so far away, if I have problems. I really appreciate this board, and all the people willing to share advice, and ideas!

As a Janome lover, I share your joy! My MC 9000 is ten years old and still working beautifully.

jcrow 04-22-2013 08:40 AM

Isn't it nice to have a machine you really, really like and does what you want it to? Congrats to you and to your husband for supporting you! He's a keeper for sure!!

crafty pat 04-22-2013 08:42 AM

So happy you found a great new machine. Sounds like you are having a world of fun and that is what it is all about. Show us some of your work.

QuiltnNan 04-22-2013 09:08 AM

congrats on your new machine.

BellaBoo 04-22-2013 09:13 AM

A new machine is exciting! I had to chuckle at driving 50 miles, I go that far to a guild meeting or to eat lunch. I will be so glad when DH retires so we can move.

Congratulations on your new machine. It is great when someone finds the machine of their dreams.

Karenowc 04-22-2013 05:30 PM

Oh, that's wonderful. I love Janome machines - I've had a ton of them. they are work horses, thats for sure.

Quilting Grandma 04-22-2013 06:39 PM

Oh what fun you have ahead of you. I bought the 1100 SE a year ago and love, love it. Sews like a dream and how much fun is the embroidery. Being able to download embroidery patterns to a jump drive is so great. Have fun.

Oh, how nice to hear you have the same machine, and love it. I had a little trouble recovering from how much I spent, but sure am happy with it.

twoxover 04-23-2013 03:37 AM

congrats on your new machine!! where is canonsburg? my daughter goes to indiana university of Pa.....

JustAbitCrazy 04-23-2013 04:55 AM

That shop is just off of Route 19 at the Donaldson's Crossroads intersection. I didn't realize that was part of Canonsburg. I guess Canonsburg is bigger than I thought.

girliegirl 04-23-2013 04:59 AM

I have a janome 8000 and 9000 love them!

maryb119 04-23-2013 05:10 AM

Congrats on your new machine! Enjoy it!

oldquilter 04-23-2013 06:23 PM

I guess the address for the shop is really McMurray, but the exit off I-79 is Cannonsburg. Kind of the general area. I can give the physical address if anyone needs it. Just happy to find a shop that sold Janome, and would service, and help!

Scakes 04-24-2013 03:00 AM

Congratulations on your new machine! Have fun!

Grannyh67 04-24-2013 03:34 AM

The MC11000 is a wonderful machine. If I needed a machine that embroideried as well I would probably buy it. I had a MC 9000 for years and it was great. Janome makes a good machine. Enjoy the machine and you will love the embroidery part, even on quilts. Congrats to you!!!

jmoore 04-24-2013 04:15 AM

excited for you and your new machine... I absolutely love my Janome and have never regretted the money I invested.

lclang 04-24-2013 04:22 AM

So glad you love your new machine. The machine can make or break you. I used to sew on an old machine I paid 50 cents for at a auction and the aggravation was awful. Now I have a Baby Lock that does everything but brews coffee and I just can't wait to fire it up and get to sewing and quilting. I love the old antiques but when I'm in the "get it done" mode, I want the needle down, thread cutter, and all the bells and whistles. Enjoy!

Daisy Dew 04-24-2013 04:31 AM

Congrats  From a Janome lover too.

BuzzinBumble 04-24-2013 05:24 AM

That is wonderful that you are so delighted! Congratulations!

grandme26 04-24-2013 05:43 AM

I bought a Janome 8900 in Feb. couldn't play with it for a couple of weeks due to surgery and pneumonia but now use it daily and it makes sewing so easy. Also have a Janome 350E that does wonderful emboirdery and apllique work.Love both

matraina 04-24-2013 05:45 AM

Glad you are so in love. I debated between a Janome and a Bernina. I had such good luck with my old mechanical Bernina that I purchased the Bernina 820. The shop I purchased from promised a 10% discount on all my purchases - fabric, accessories, everything. I purchased it in 11/11. Well, my machine has been in 3 times for repairs; the shop was sold and new owner will not give the 10% discount. They have a very good teacher there that helps me through all these problems but I don't like the fact that in 1 1/2 years, it's been in 3x. At this point, I'm doubting my purchase and I told them so. I'm trying to make a baby quilt (baby already born) and my schedule is so crazy that I can't sew as much as I'd like. I'm waiting to get the machine back so I can finish the quilt.

jamsbuying 04-24-2013 05:52 AM

Congratulations, enjoy!!

cpcarolyn 04-24-2013 05:59 AM

Congrats. Enjoy.

tessagin 04-24-2013 06:22 AM

Sometimes you have to go a little distance for a great accomplishment. 50 miles really isn't too bad at 60mph.:)

Grandma Peg 04-24-2013 06:32 AM

Good for you and glad it's working out.

Lady Diana 04-24-2013 07:04 AM

To all the Janome owners out there.....compare prices on your accessories, then contact Brubakerssewing.com for 15% off of your accessories. (Don't work there....wish they were in TX though) They even count your software for your embroidery machines as "accessories". This discount is provided by joining the Janome 6500/6600 or 7700/8900 yahoo group. Type Yahoo 15 at check out. Great dealer with an incredible Tech.
I love my 11000SE, 6600 and now my 8900. The new 8900 for quilting is a dream.

Calran 04-24-2013 07:47 AM

Congratulations on your new toy. I bought a Janome 8900 last week and learning to love it.

Boston1954 04-24-2013 07:55 AM

Sounds like you found the perfect machine for you. I hope you can do all you want to do. Enjoy!!!

Sandrea 04-24-2013 10:34 AM

You did the right thing, made the right choice. I own an MC8000, MC9000, MC11,000 and the 6600 quilting machine. I also own Viking's - #1+, Designer 1, Des. SE, and Des. Diamond. I know.... by now you think I am nuts having so many machines. I also own a PE300 Brother (just 12 lbs. for traveling), a 221 Featherweight, and a Singer Treadle. Yeah, I guess I am a little fanatic about sewing machines. It's just that they never give you anything on a trade in and I always think it's worth more to me to keep it, than to trade it in for peanuts. Besides, all the machines do different things and I just can't part with an old friend. tee hee, BUT THE POINT HERE IS ....."I LOVE MY MC11,000 THE BEST OF ALL OF THEM. So see, you made the right choice!!! Good for you. I have never had a single problem with any of my Janome's.

MargeD 04-24-2013 11:32 AM

Congratulations on your new sewing machine, the best tool a girl can have. I have a Janome 4000, I love it and I would highly recommend a Janome, although I'm sure they have come up with a few more bells and whistles since I bought that machine, many years ago.

oldquilter 04-24-2013 01:10 PM

Already posted my kitty tote bag and patchwork sweatshirt jacket, just didn't mention the machine:) If I can get back to work, will post some more soon. This board is addicting:)

skaduzy 04-24-2013 04:24 PM

Congratulations from another Janome owner!

nstitches4u 04-24-2013 05:05 PM

Congratulations on your new Janome! You will love it. I currently own 3 Janomes. They are great machines. I'm looking forward to seeing your quilts.

mighty 04-25-2013 08:10 AM

Congrats on your new machine!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

DebsShelties 04-26-2013 09:15 AM

Just got a 7700 QCP, love the machine and am still amazed that I got it at such a deal. Had tried sewing on a friend's Janome a while back and hated it as the thread kept jamming and breaking. This machine came into view and I decided to give it a try, am working on a baby quilt with the pattern Shoo Fly.

Ruby the Quilter 04-26-2013 05:36 PM

I loved my Janome 11000 SE. Easy to use and did so much. My dh traded it for the Horizon 12000 and love-love- this machine. I have had lots of machines over the years and the Janomes have been my favorite.
