 Dummy me I was using the cutter too fast. The cutter blade rode on top of the ruler anf right into the tip of my index finger. Wow, does it burn. I have the bandaid on really tight right now. I pray that it will be okay in the morning. I do not enjoy being a member of the blade club.

OUCH!!!
ouch ouch
so sorry your are member of this club. but you are will friends who know your pain.
We really weren't looking for new members!
Hope you heal quickly! |
So sorry to hear about this accident. I was cutting fabric tonight and my husband came in and said ,"Why aren't you wearing your glove?" So this reminds me that I am a bit of a klutz at times and to wear the glove. I pray that you will heal quickly.
Ouch, knock on wood I have not done this yet. I have, however, lowered the sewing machine needle onto my index finger and bled like a stuck pig.
Hope you heal fast! |
I use my glove 'most' of the time, obviously all the time is a better idea! Don't want to join your club!!
Glad it only needed a bandaid. :)
Take care
I feel for you!
sounds painful.......feel better soon!
I hope you have a can of Lanacane. So sorry you got hurt.
Oh my- you have my sympathy! That just stinks! Good luck!
Owie!! So sorry you got hurt Charlene. Although many of us have had a similar experience (or worse), it is not necessary to test the sharpness of the rotary cutter to be a quilter -- LOL.
When I first started quilting in the rotary era, I got a nick in the blade and ran my finger along the edge to see if I could feel anything (the same way I used to test the sharpness of knives) -- not my brightest moment. I do feel your pain. |
If you have any soak it in some epsom salt water. It will really ease the pain and help it heal faster.
right now I am afraid to remove the bandaid for fear of it bleeding. I will check it again in the morning. As for the epson salt. ouch, I really do not want to pour salt in a wound. I may just put some superglue on it in the morning. This should hold it together. Oh and what kind of glove are you talking about wearing for cutting?
Ouch! I did the same thing and had to have 7 stitches. It was very inconvenient so I'm extra careful now.
Ouch!! Been there, done that!!!!
Make sure you keep it clean and use some antibacterial ointment on it! |

I just have to walk by my rotary cutter and the blade can be closed and I will get a nick!!!
Oh no!!!!! Glad it was not worse.
OUCH!!! I feel for you.
Sounds like it hurts. I haven't so far done this one but I have sewed over my index finger with the machine. Smarts and bleeds but I made it thru. Hope your finger gets healed quick. Just make sure to put something on it besides the band-aid so it doesn't get infected. Good Luck and a hug. Sue

I thought you were going to be the needle through the finger club
Ouch! I am a total klutz...I've even managed to cut myself with a knife when I was NOT cutting anything, just talking with my hands and had my new knife in one hand! I don't wear the glove, but I did purchase one those guards for my ruler.
OWWWWWW!Did you look at it when you did it? Does it need a stitch or two? If it does, it is best to get it done right away because it will swell and then they won't stitch it. It will have to heal as it is. If it's just a little slice, not deep, it should heal okay. Make sure your tight bandage is not cutting off the circulation when you go to bed tonight.
Sorry you had to join the club. I have gone and cut a finger twice!
So sorry!
I know how you feel, I've done this twice to the same index finger, really hurts. Hope you feel better soon!
i cut my rulers up, many nicks in them, but have not cut into my digits yet and i hope not to. i would rather just replace the rulers at some point.
here's hoping you heal quickly. |
mix the epson salt in water and soak your finger. it should be soothing and not burn.

Done that. Ouch. Am suffering needle thru the finger club right now, snatched at a piece trying to sneak under the foot from the back. Third time in some 46 years of sewing.
Sorry that happened.
ouchie hope it heals fast
Made me shudder just to read it. OUCH. OUCH. OUCH. Sending you healing rays. OUCH.
been there! done that!! I bled forever because it was on the right side of my left hand, first finger. Just missed the fingernail! The fleshy portion of the finger apparently likes to bled! Have a nice reminder whenever I pick up the rotary tho!
I joined about a week ago and then cut my other finger in the kitchen this past weekend. I couldn't believe it!
Oooo! So sorry! Yes, it really DOES hurt! Hope it heals quickly.
