It is typical of an old bedpsread, am soaking right now. Just wondering, depending on the shape when I finish this wash, if anyone has incorporated an old bedspread somehow into a quilt?

I cut the spread into backings for child size quilts. Nice and warm.

I'll bet you could cut them into squares and sew them together...but is the bedspread in such bad shape that it needs to be cut to be used?

If it's nice - use it as is.

Old chenille bedspreads are quite collectible-if it is not in bad shapre you may want to keep it as is.

When I was growing up I thought they were so ugly and now I absolutely love them!
What does a child know hee hee :D
I have a couple but haven't cut them up. I was gifted a really cute scotty dog made out of one and I also have a pillow but that's it.

It has one tear in it, close to the bottom, it washed up nicely. At least it is clean, will think on this one and see what comes of it.

They make beautiful quilts. I collected them for several years just for that purpose. You could either use only chenille squares (may need to collect a few more cutter chenilles off of ebay first to add to them) or alternate the chenille squares with cotton squares. I made a pretty shabby chic one for my granddaughter by using different chenille square and alternating with floral ones. Very cozy. Would love to see a pic your chenille.
Also, if it has any fringe around it, you could make a matching pillow and trim with the fringe.

I am sitting here with one (white) folded in half and keeping warm. Mine has one stain on it round and I just noticed it so will have to try to remove it. I got in a box of fabric at a sale...
Oh they look great under Yo-Yo quilts...

Oh I have love chenille bedspreads, especially the older ones. My grandmother had a white one on her bed, and as a little kid I thought it was so elegant!
