Old fashioned quilt

My cousin has opened a respite house for care-takers. It is an old carriage house, quite antique-ish. Beautiful. I want to make a quilt for the home but want something "old fashioned". And of course, the mind goes blank. Any suggestions? Probably a throw size, not a bed size.

Log Cabin quilt comes to mind for old fashioned.

This can be looked at 2 ways. Old fashioned as in fabric or in pattern. Lots of star patterns come to mind Ohio star, friendship star, Lemoyne star. How about a dresden plate in 1930's fabrics? A simple 9-patch or 4-patch done in the right fabrics would give the "old fashioned" feel you are looking for and be easy to make, maybe even more than one!
Good luck to you and your cousin.

I agree with Kathy’s, in the old fashioned feel will come from fabric choice as much or even more than the pattern. Civil war reproduction, 30’s or solids (like Amish quilts) will work. Then any classic pattern (stars or log cabin) will look old fashioned.

No matter how classic the pattern, a modern print or batik fabric will not work.

I love old fashioned stars in a quilt. A Missouri star or Ohio Star would be my idea of old fashioned.

I think or a rich golds, blues and greens of a log cabin in civil war fabrics. But you will want to go with the interior colors. If they are light and airy, 30s fabrics are the way to go.

double wedding ring - irish chain - log cabin - jacobs ladder. The right fabric could make many patterns "feel" old timey

Churn dash blocks equal "old timey" for me.

I also love Log Cabins and Ohio Star. But there are so many lovely patterns.
