magpie 12-10-2010 03:04 PM

Good for DH. Can't wait to see her.

Quiltforme 12-10-2010 03:04 PM

Oh what a sweatheart!!!

katier825 12-10-2010 03:05 PM

I understand, I've been in similar positions before and hubby treated me to some nice gifts. You'll love your FW! I'm so glad he bought me mine. Maybe you can name it after your DD? :) Looking forward to seeing pics!

Congratulations! I'm curious about the customizing so I'll be watching for your pictures. I recently got a FW and it has jump started my quilting.

Annaquilts 12-10-2010 03:07 PM

So happy to hear you got something to brighten things. It sounds like he knew just what to get you.

Japonica 12-10-2010 03:42 PM

Good for you!

DebraK 12-10-2010 03:42 PM

and you feel awful why?

ann clare 12-10-2010 03:43 PM

You have a wonderful DH.

mommamac 12-10-2010 03:47 PM

I had just read your post about 'no stress' & feeling sad for you because you DD is in Afghanistan. I was in that spot last year so know how 'emotional' it can be.
Then I see this post - oh, what a wonderful hubby you have knowing just what you needed to chase those blues away.
A merry, merry Christmas to both of you! (grandkiddies too)

granma1 12-10-2010 03:48 PM

I don't feel awful about the gift. I feel bad that our DD has to go to Afghanistan again. And I really miss her.

Chele 12-10-2010 04:30 PM

I'm sure no one wants you to feel awful. You have a wonderful support system in your husband. I hope your DD will be back before you know it. Enjoy!

redvette54 12-10-2010 04:35 PM

What a wonderful thing for him to do for you.

irishrose 12-10-2010 05:45 PM

That's exciting. You can be proud of your daughter. That's the only way you'll get through this. My son was in the Marine corps eight years and was in some tight spots. My thoughts are with you.

MistyMarie 12-10-2010 05:49 PM

My dh just deployed and I bought myself an embroidery machine for Christmas.

I understand how you feel about having your daughter over there. It is really hard.

Joeysnana 12-10-2010 05:50 PM

You must be so proud of your daughter. I will keep her in my prayers. <<hugs>>

Cyn 12-10-2010 05:53 PM

He's a keeper!

irishrose 12-10-2010 07:21 PM

Too late to edit - I apologize to the United states Marine Corps for not capitalizing Corps.

I currently have a GD in the USMC - she's stateside, but her fiance is in Afghanistan, a GS in the Army awaiting orders and another GS in the Navy.

kathilynne 12-10-2010 07:32 PM

I am glad that I have found this site...beautiful quilts, beautiful people - my husband is currently overseas and the quilting ideas and instructions has helped immensly. My To Do List keeps growing!

It stands for featherweight. They are the older machines, Singer, I think. Just straight stitch, I understand.

OH, I think I have one. It is a White/ goes back and forth. My husband bought it for me used(underlined) on our first wedding annversary 49 years ago. Does that make it a featherweight. Because it sure is heavy to me!!!!! I don't mean to sound flip, I am just wondering if an FW is just a Singer or any machine that goes back and forth and is an older machine.
