One Quilt, Two Women

I have finally finished a quilt started by my husband's grandmother in 1938! I presented it to my husband's parents this week for their 50th wedding anniversary. This was the most emotional quilt I have ever made

I can't seem to find or see a picture, but I love the story and the sentimentality of the whole thing. People would have been swimming out of there because of the tears! How very neat and I can't imagine what he must have felt. Wow.

My avatar picture is the quilt that I completed. I don't post here, am a lurker mostly, so haven't figured out all the how-tos yet! This quilt really stressed to me the importance of actually using my signature on my quilts. I had my husband's grandmother's signature and embroidered it on the quilt. Seeing her signature was so emotional...I cried and cried. And nearly all the members of the family when they saw the quilt cried too. I'm just glad I was finally able to complete it in time for my in-laws 50th anniversary!

Wow, that is a great story, a beautiful quilt and a wonderful gift - the emotions must have been flying when everyone saw your masterpiece - how special to be able to finish such a precious family treasure!

The hexagons pieced in diamond are cool.
Nice story - nice quilt.
