That's so true about GD's mine went from only purple, to purple and lime green, and within three months now would like black included.

Wow, that is ironic, as the one I just made for my granddaughter is purple and lime green also. That was the colors she chose.

My daughter if very picky about things, that's why I've never made her a quilt because I'm not sure she would like it. I've made several for my grandson (her little boy) and my son, and his girls, which they all love them!

Buy her one from Pottery Barn. Obviously, the work doesn't count. Maybe she'll like the Chinese-made ones better.

The same happened to me with a quilt I had planned for my granddaughter's graduation this June. Last Fall, after attending a local quilt show, we stopped by a quilt store that had a good discount the day of the quilt show. In the store my gd saw a quilt displayed that she said she liked - out of material that is totally out of my comfort zone! I showed her a book with the quilt I had planned and she said she didn't like it! Long story short - we bought material like the display quilt; the quilt is now with the longarm quilter and my gd will have the quilt she wants for her grad! She is our 1st gc so I wanted her to be pleased with her quilt.

I am sorry, children can be brats without even knowing it. I would of never told my grandma I did not like something. I am so sorry you went through all that work. but someone will love the quilt. Heck you could send it to me :D I don't have a quilt yet and I would love it. I hope you have time to make her a new quilt. God bless. Penny

Don't feel bad, it's the generation gap. I would save it for someone else, make hers colors or better yet, give it to her 10 years from now, bet her colors will change. Then again, there is always someone you can give it to.

I think I would write down the whole experience; tuck in the quilt; put her name on it and pack it away--something she'll have of yours when you're no longer around--I know I treasure any little thing that was my grandmothers'. Hopefully, it would put a smile on her face knowing how much you loved her to start a whole new quilt for her because of the colors!

I think you did the right thing by going shopping with your GD.

Yea lnikkers,
This is a hard one. On one side it is best she picks out her own colors and maby the pattern if she has the time to sit with you to pick one out (you certainly wouldn't want her to pick out something that you wouldn't enjoy working on) but on the other side what ever happened to appreciating the love that goes into someone making a quilt for someone they love?????????????? :XD:

The thing is - the GD did not know that this was intended for her - so I think she did nothing wrong by saying she didn't like it.
