I have to piece the backing for my quilt and want to add a 5" strip between the two prints. Which color solid would go better?

SallyQ 04-19-2011 08:02 AM

Not the pale blue. I personally like the mauve to bring out the flowers.

coffeepot 04-19-2011 08:03 AM

All are nice but the purple or orange would really be pretty. Marilyn oops thought it was purple but it is mauve.

erstan947 04-19-2011 08:03 AM

I'm a blue person....blue gets my vote:)

Lori S 04-19-2011 08:03 AM

I like the redish/orange or the purple.

barb55 04-19-2011 08:04 AM

I like the red.

Mazda 04-19-2011 08:05 AM

I like the red best.

TonnieLoree 04-19-2011 08:06 AM

Since there are different descriptions to the colors, I do not like the very bottom one as well as the other two.

lheartsl 04-19-2011 08:06 AM

not the light blue, blends in too much....
my eye is drawn to the purple, but both the purple and red work... In my opinion.....

greensleeves 04-19-2011 08:13 AM

Are you using one of those as binding, if so I would pick that color. Otherwise, I like the top one-orange-the best.

AliKat 04-19-2011 08:16 AM

I'd like it pieced with the two brighter colors and the label made with the softer color.

Or, if you like them all, then use them all. It is you quilt after all.

To my eye the blue does not play off of the print the way the orange and purple do. BTW on my monitor the top looks orange and middle looks purple and the bottom looks very pale blue.

I would use both orange and purple! You could strip piece chinese coins or cut 3" by 6" retangles and lay them out brick style to finish at 2 1/2" x 5 1/2". Two rows laid out the long way would equal your 5" needed.

wolfkitty 04-19-2011 08:47 AM

I am a blue person, but I don't think it works here. The orange goes with the print, but the purple or whatever goes with the flowers in the print. Either of those two would work.

sidmona 04-19-2011 08:55 AM

Guess I'll use the red/orange. It was my first choice (guess I shouldn't second guess my self) and since I'm doing the binding in that color it should go well. Thanks for all your input.

katier825 04-19-2011 08:55 AM

Not the blue, but either of the others would look nice.

mzzzquilts 04-19-2011 08:56 AM

my vote is for mauve

littleone 04-19-2011 08:56 AM

Either first or second, the blue is to washed out for your quilt. (JIMHO)

sueisallaboutquilts 04-19-2011 08:57 AM

What darling fabrics! I love blue but not for this. I think the other 2 are more suited.

I love this choice! It is a beautiful color :D:D:D

maryel 04-19-2011 09:15 AM

For me it most definately be the red!

quiltsRfun 04-19-2011 09:15 AM

The purple would be my choice.

carslo 04-19-2011 10:12 AM

orange and I do not even like orange very much!

Me too!

Tartan 04-19-2011 10:34 AM

It depends on what the front looks like. If the front is all light colours, I would be concerned of a dark/bright strip showing through on the front. It would probably not be a problem unless it was on display hanging somewhere (quilt show)? I personally like the orange, although they are all pretty.

timepasser 04-19-2011 10:59 AM

I like the orange, but then orange is my favorite color

I think this is a very good suggestion. Otherwise, I'd use only the orange. To me the purple provides too much contrast.

Sadiemae 04-19-2011 11:31 AM

It is difficult to choose without seeing the top. I do like the orange a lot.

qbquilts 04-19-2011 11:41 AM

I like the purple (middle) best, but the orange (top) is a very close 2nd. I wouldn't use the pale blue (bottom).

Karen Mayhood 04-19-2011 11:45 AM

my vote is on the mauve

helloooooo ....... this has been asked and answered on the first page. please respect her own opinion.

gellybean402 04-19-2011 04:56 PM

I like the purple as it will bring out the purple flowers more. It already has enough orange. Really pretty quilt!

terrt 04-20-2011 02:46 AM

I pick purple!

Boxer mom 04-20-2011 02:53 AM

how about useing all 3 and cut them into strips and sew them together? I like all 3, or just the purple and orange.

I agree with this, too much orange already, not the blue but, the purple works well

Happy Tails 04-20-2011 03:10 AM

I like either of the first 2

gal288 04-20-2011 03:13 AM

blue if you want a soft look and purple to accent.

Edie 04-20-2011 03:30 AM

I like the purple, but I would put it on either side of the edges, not straight down the middle! JMHO!!!! Edie

brendadawg 04-20-2011 03:33 AM

I like the orange.

marilynquilt 04-20-2011 03:49 AM

You could duplicate the blocks on the front of the quilt and use them in a row down the center of of the backing???
