Believe me, this child will never forget the kindness you are extending. The child in me still feels the pain of exclusion and teasing. I am in my 60's now and it tickles me that age seems to be the great equalizer for most of those that took part in bullying and teasing. I see current pictures of former classmates that were once the cheerleaders and those that considered themselves among the beautiful people and they are overweight, old, and wrinkled just like I am. Unfortunately, that won't help this young lady's sense of self esteem or self worth but having someone see your value and beauty and acknowledge that may be a life saver for her. I love the colors and the layout. What a sweet thing that you're doing this for this little girl. I struggled with my weight my whole life and basically starved myself as a teen to keep my weight down so I feel for her.

To make this fast, you could do a quilt-as-you-go technique and build it as you go. Just a thought.
