Buttons are a NO NO on a baby quilt, a swallowing hazard.
Same with the quilts that are frayed, a choking hazard. Buttons are cute, but they are best used on vests not quilts. |
Buttons can come off and the baby will swallow them. I would not put them on even though they are cute as can be.

Just one word - 'DON'T!'

Any small items that could possibly come off and cause choking or be swallowed is not a good idea......Babies love to chew and suck on their clothing and bedding!
|
nope, I wouldn't do it.
|
Don't do it! Except if it is a wall hanging.

I wouldn't put buttons on baby quilts. I know they look cute but they can get them off and choke on them.

For baby's sake, NEVER, NEVER add embellishments that create a choking hazard: no FRINGE, BUTTONS, PLASTIC EYES, PRAIRIE POINTS, BOWS, RIBBONS, BEADS, ETC., ETC. All these and more are unsafe for baby. Cute as wall hangings out of baby's reach, though. Always think SAFETY!

I just finished a baby quilt. I too was thinking bottons or no. I decided no but I am considering telling the Mother if she likes, I will put them on when the baby gets older.
