Well, since being unable to sew because of bad back, I've squared up the blocks I've finished for the next gc's baby quilt. Most are 1/2" too small so I've added to them to bring them out to right size. But it changes the pattern I think. Not sure if I should finish the quilt or start over. The block to the right are extras to be switched in if you think necessary. DD (auntie-to-be) and I sorta like this arrangement. Pattern is called "Modern Mix".
I have to make more small blocks. What colours should I bring out more? The baby's room is brown/neutral AND I need to get the quilt finished! By the way the colours are based on DD's/mommy-to-be's wedding bouquet! from end from side |
With the sentimental value, I would press on.
Looks like you could add a little more white to the margins? Then I would applique a giant bunny in one corner! |
i certainly don't think you need to start over- your blocks are lovely- and colorful- which babies love- continue on...be adventurous- there is nothing wrong with stepping outside someone elses pattern- and making it your own!
I would go with the blues green and purples. it will help make the oranges and pinky reds stand out more like a flower in the middle of a bouquet.
I love what you have so far and this pattern looks very forgiving in that some blocks had to be added to or cut down. I say press on.
i say press on too
Keep going!!! Baby will love and mother-to-be! Don't think will need to many more for "baby" quilt
Keep going--it will be lovely and mommy and baby will love it. take care of yourself too.
Ok so where is the OOOPS????
What am I missing.. |
Keep going. Looks good. I like the extra special touch you've added to make it your special design.
I really like how this is looking so far.
My suggestion would be that you either put white/pastel in other rounds on the additional blocks you do &/or scatter out the blocks with white/pastel on the final round. This would help keep the design balanced colorwise. Keep going! It's really pretty. |
I think it's very pretty. Press on!
Your gc is a lucky child. |
I like it. Press on!
I love those blocks- keep going!! :)
It's coming all great, keep at it! If needed, another strip to a block here & there. That baby isn't going to care, & will love having all those beautiful colors to look at! Very nice!..
It'sgoing to be really cool when you finish it! GO forward!
Thank you for the encouragment. I've added a few more small blocks - cut them from the four blocks at the side to save some time. I need to make 4 or 5 more small blocks and I think it will be just fine.
I think the looming deadline and me having so much to do besides making the quilt - in combination to being unable to sew for a few weeks - is making me crazy.
Thank you all again! |
Keep going. It looks great.

I like it, don't start over.

I love the pattern and you haven't hurt it a bit. It's called creative license. Keep going! It's lovely
Keep going! I love yellow fabric, maybe you could add in yellow.
I LIKE IT! Continue for sure!
Press on and continue to make more small blocks. I like the pattern: one big block with two small blocks to one side.
I like it. A lot. The problem is that we expect perfection out of ourselves, and sometimes we overthink what perfection is. This is colorful and very far from boring. Please don't start over. It's unique and it's you.
Onward! You can always embellish with bias strips placed here and there or with lots of colorful thread overlays.
I like it as well. Keep going!
Absolutely, keep going. I agree that a "fun" block of either flowers or a bunny would be darling in the corner....

Before I even looked at this thread, I knew you should go forward with your pattern. This is so cute - the baby will love all the colors and tracing them with his/her fingers. Keep up the good work.
love the colors....do not abandon this great quilt!!! start thinking of your own design and change it up a little...your gc is lucky!!!!! good luck
who says you have to follow a pattern to the letter. Your being creative and adding the extra does not take from what your doing. The blocks are lovely, the nice bright colors. I vote, keep going
Keep going. Love your blocks.
I agree, you have a good start, keep going and personalize somehow!!!

I would say to keep going, it is looking very very nice. Perhaps bring out the blue/greens more?
Keep on trucking!!!LOL
I love your color choices....looks great to me so far...
You are doing a lovely job, Keep going.
Just keep going. It looks great so far. Try out the extra blocks in the spaces you left. That will tell you what color would look right with what you already have.
