I have sold most of my stash over the last 12 years. I was a real fabricaholic. Now I just have my favorite things plus a few more that I am going to post on here when I get around to it. I found my tastes and needs have changed over the years, and I don't sew as often. I would keep a little bit of your favorites and sell the rest. Post them here, I am sure you could sell some of it.

I think that is a great Ideal.

Hey, I'm a central upstater but I know where Hamburg is and if you have a preview day for we boardmembers, I'm willing to make a trip. LOL
Hugs and smiles and good luck in your project!

Definitely keep a couple of big pieces to back your quilts with. I would keep the fat quarters as i find them so handy in so many of my projects.

Thats a great idea. I too love fabric and hate parting with it!! That way you can keep a little remembrance.

I would definately buy from you if you put some up for sale on the board. I would love to help you pare down your stash.

I think you should definitely keep a stash of whatever size you can handle. I agree with the others about selling here on the board. I watch the listings, but things go so fast that I haven't been able to purchase anything yet. lol Selling here would allow you more time to sort and decide since you won't be limited to one or two days like a garage sale. List as much or as little as you really want. I'm sure you won't have any problems selling and, like the others said, you will get more money than at a garage sale. Wishing you well. Hugs.

Start selling here first since you are not having the yard sale for a few months anyway. It may all be gone by then!

After reading these posts, it made me wonder: do quilters in the US have fabric swap meets, like guys do with car parts and computer parts? It sounds like a good idea to me. Better still, car parts and fabrics - DH can take the kids to browse the car/computer parts with him.
We don't have them down here, but I think it would be a win/win scenario: stash clean/stash build. That way you would know your fabric was going to a good home and you could go buy some more with the funds.
