I started playing with some blocks yesterday and came up with this. Do you like setting 1 or 2 better

QuiltingVagabond 08-03-2018 02:21 PM

I think I prefer the first one, but it really depends on whether you want a quilt with more black (2nd) or more white (1st)

Jordan 08-03-2018 02:33 PM

Either one looks nice but I do agree with "Quilting Vagabond" that I see more black in the second one. Which one do you like?

bearisgray 08-03-2018 02:36 PM

I think I could tell better after you have more blocks made.

It does look different when you turn the black and white units around.

Jane Quilter 08-03-2018 03:29 PM

If we are voting, I like the first one. But I like both of them just fine.

Tartan 08-03-2018 03:43 PM

Both are nice but I like the first one best. The little white squares will make nice diagonal lines through the top.

SusieQOH 08-03-2018 03:46 PM

I prefer more white than black but honestly, either one is really pretty!

sewbizgirl 08-03-2018 03:47 PM

Love the first layout. In the second, the blacks melt into each other, which is why people are perceiving it as having more black. I prefer the blacks not touching each other, as in your first layout. I think you've got a winner there!

Jingle 08-03-2018 06:40 PM

I prefer second, I like more black together than more white together.

zozee 08-03-2018 06:49 PM

On first look, I'm going with the layout 2. I like that it appears to be a black and white quilt with pops of color rather than the other way around .

Anniedeb 08-03-2018 07:03 PM

I also like #2. I Like the layout better with the white diagonal.

SillySusan 08-03-2018 07:08 PM

I like the 2nd one best. I think the little white blocks look great running diagonally thru the top.

mjkgquilt 08-03-2018 07:56 PM

I like the 2nd one. Like how the small white blocks are lining up.

RJLinkletter 08-03-2018 10:25 PM

I like layout 2 as I think the ‘increased’ Black makes the colours pop more.

Aurora 08-03-2018 11:48 PM

I agree with RJLinkletter.

copycat 08-04-2018 02:07 AM

The second reads more black and white, so the colors pop the most! I also like the first one if you wish the quilt to read more white. Both lovely. Make more blocks and then take a photo and see what you think.

Mkotch 08-04-2018 02:43 AM

#2 looks quite complicated so I like it best.

eparys 08-04-2018 03:31 AM

While they both look great, I too prefer #2. Layout #1 appears to be scrappy with the consistent feature the diagonal of random color while layout #2 as zozee commented appears to be a Black and White Quilt with pops of color. I see in #2 a diagonal of White accentuated by alternating Black and Color. Always interesting to see what rearranging the blocks will do!! Both will look great!!

quilterpurpledog 08-04-2018 03:37 AM

I like them both and think either will make a very striking quilt. However, I do think the black in the second one, set as you have done it, make the color patches pop out to make a 'nice statement'. I do think when you have more blocks to arrange that your best choice will become more apparent.

maviskw 08-04-2018 03:39 AM

Once you get more blocks added, you will find that the black blocks will make diagonal lines and so will the white, no matter which way they go. I would make many more blocks and then lay it out and take a picture. Probably won't make too much difference.

bneuen 08-04-2018 03:40 AM

Is this a D9P?

Karamarie 08-04-2018 03:58 AM

That's a hard one, but I prefer the second.

youngduncan 08-04-2018 04:18 AM

I think the first layout catches my eye the best. While the second one is attractive enough, the first one says "wow!" More blocks would make a decision easier to make for me, though.

Bug Lady 08-04-2018 04:26 AM

I like the second one better.

trolleystation 08-04-2018 04:30 AM

I like # 1...…………….

Calran 08-04-2018 04:37 AM

I like 2, colors seem to pop.

Jo Anne B. 08-04-2018 04:43 AM

I like #2, has more flow...easy on the eyes.

Boston1954 08-04-2018 04:47 AM

Number two jumps out at me.

ghquilter53 08-04-2018 05:04 AM

I like number 2 best because the white chain stands out against the black background.

Innov8R 08-04-2018 05:10 AM

Both are nice, but I like #1 the best.

I agree. Love the "chain" effect.

carolynjo 08-04-2018 05:41 AM

I like the second one best.

GingerK 08-04-2018 05:48 AM

I like the second one. To me it is more organized. I had a hard time picking out the pattern on the first one but it jumped right out at me on the second one. Gave my eyes something to focus on.

CR 08-04-2018 05:56 AM

I too like the second one. I like the little white squares running diagonally. But it's whatever one you like the best. Both look great.

luvstoquilt 08-04-2018 07:06 AM

I like the second one but both are nice. Which do you prefer?

Mariposa 08-04-2018 07:10 AM

I like #1 best..... Perhaps make more blocks, and laid out you'll get a better idea of which way you want to go.

Annie68 08-04-2018 07:14 AM

The first one

rosiewell 08-04-2018 07:16 AM

I actually like them both!

joe'smom 08-04-2018 07:22 AM

I prefer layout #1, it is more interesting and creates a sense of movement, whereas #2 seems static to me.

Jennifer23 08-04-2018 07:26 AM

I like the first one! It seems more orderly to me; the second one seems frenetic. Isn't it funny how we all perceive patterns differently?
