The first is better! The red looks like you made a mistake; it clashes with the other nicely coordinated fabrics.

I agree with zozee and explanation given, as well as the others I prefer the first one - the orange makes it look too busy. This being said, it's your quilt, so whatever you prefer, but you did ask for opinions.

The first one is more pleasing to the eye...the orange clashes and is too busy to see your great piecing!

The first one for me too. (orange is my favorite color) But the orange takes away the "gentleness" of the quilt.

I would still pick the first one. If you want 3 colors, I would go with a very light blue-violet. The reason is that, from my computer, at least, it looks like you've picked a blue-green and a red-violet. Those would not form a triad color scheme in any case, since triad color schemes should have the 3 colors evenly spaced apart. You could do a split complementary scheme with 3 colors, but then you'd need to change out 2 of the 3 colors to make blue-green/red-orange/orange (or red or blue or green, depending on what you like); or red-violet/yellow-green/green (or red, violet, or yellow).

What I would suggest is a 3-color analogous color scheme. If you keep the 2 colors in the top photo & swap out the red-violet dot print for a similar light blue-violet fabric, then you would have the 3 colors next to each other with one color in between: BLUE-GREEN - (blue) - BLUE-VIOLET - (violet) - RED-VIOLET.

I do agree with the others that it would help if you can choose a very light tint to help add contrast to the quilt. The other alternative would be to go dark, but since it's made with pretty floral prints that are indicative of Spring or Summer, I'd recommend keeping it light colored, if possible. The nice thing about that dot print that you have now is that it has the white background for contrast with a more saturated color for the dots.

I vote for the first one.

I love the second one!

I would not change it. I think the red/orange distracts the eye from the overall beauty of the quilt.

To my eyes, the orange strip blurs with its neighbors. Therefore, I prefer A. Have you considered a paler pink with a less distinct pattern in order to enhance the contrast?

Looks like I'm the only one with a bit of adventure with color, the orange just perks up the color combinations and gives the whole some character! Stay with it UBE.
