I would make a shadow box with a glass cover. That way you would have a wedding photo, fabric from the dress and lace as well as the brides- maides . If you have ribbon from your bouquet that could also be used.

I've seen several throw pillows made out of the front of the tux, just like a square had been cut out of it, and then the cuff areas added on. I know I'm not explaining well, but they were knockout.

Others are on the same wavelength as me -- these fabrics beg to be made into a crazy quilt.

I agree with everyone. Yes, a crazy quilt would look great along with photos and other nick knack items.

I just did a quick online search and there are tons of ideas for quilts made from wedding dresses. Pinterest had quite a few pics. I think it's a cute idea especially if you have somewhere to hang it. In my house it could never be on a bed. It would have to be safe from my husband and the dogs. lol

Wonderful idea! I did something similar and put it in a picture frame with glass over it. The frame was quite expensive because it is about 24 x 36. I ordered the frame on line and then purchased the glass at the local hardware store, to save on shipping costs. Well worth the expense.

My daughters had me cut up their wedding dresses to repurpose them. One went into a christening gown in the same design as the dress. The bodice is waiting for a glassed shadow box frame. The other is cut up for the centers of courthouse steps quilt since they were married in Washington Courthouse - 3 yrs ago. I am trying to decide if I want to put embroidery in the white centers. Maybe red hearts or some similar. I am working on another that is 10 yrs late. I'm getting there. I don't sew every day or week for that matter.

I would have an appropriate sized shadow box. I would make a small version of the wedding dress and tuxedo. Then I would take a photo from the wedding and cut off the heads and place them on the garments. Something like the cut-out dolls we used to play with. I don''t know what you think of this idea, but that's what I would do. This is the first time I have posted, I hope it works. I read everyone's posts everyday, there are so many beautiful quilts made. I just love this site!!

A friend makes the most amazing Christening gowns and booties out of wedding dresses for other people. These become family heirlooms.

I think it will look great, and that's a great way to make use of those items. I would make sure to interface the silk though, as it has a tendency to shatter as it ages.
