opinions please - sorry I am so needy

This quilt has been the biggest struggle that I have had in a looooong time. Thank you to everyone who replied on my earlier post, but I abandoned the hourglass blocks for this quilt. This fabric is just to subtle with soft hues to take much competition from other blocks and colors.

I decided to go with just with simple block with green sashing. So far I like it, but I am stuck on the borders.

I feel like it needs a different color thrown in but I can't decide which way to go. What do you guys think? or any suggestions?

I really like the orange inner border. I would also use the same
fabric as the sashing for the final border.

Maggie_Sue 09-10-2017 09:14 AM

I second the orange

Jingle 09-10-2017 09:22 AM

I would probably use the same fabric and color of the sashes.

Feathers-N-Fur 09-10-2017 09:26 AM

I like the first photo, but I'd try the blue instead of the orange. But the orange is nice too.

soccertxi 09-10-2017 09:26 AM

Oh the orange inner border just popped out at me. It picks up the orange in the quilt and give it some ZING!

bkay 09-10-2017 09:32 AM

I like the matching one.

My preference is for the orange inner border.

zozee 09-10-2017 10:10 AM

I like the first one, it's cohesive and soothing.

tranum 09-10-2017 10:53 AM

I'm with easy peezy

TheMerkleFamily 09-10-2017 11:13 AM

I like the same color outer border (same as sash) and either the orange or blue inner border to bring out either preferred color from the pattern.

That's how I feel too. And the orange frames it so nicely; not too much, not too little, just perfect in my opinion.

I would use the same fabric for the border and binding as you have used for the sashing.

It's a sweet little print - let it be seen.

If you want bright - use it for the backing.

Stick with the winning combo you already have .... Just use the same green as your sashings are for the border/binding. The simplicity, subtlety and softness of your quilt is why it looks so nice.

I am guessing your sashings are only one inch finished. Yes? No?
If so, how about stopping where you are now, and just put a binding on that is the same one inch, with no further borders. Of course, that is, if the quilt is large enough. If it needs to be larger, just stick with the same green for the border and binding.

SusieQOH 09-10-2017 12:50 PM

I really like how you did this quilt!!! I like it a lot better than when you had the hourglasses in it. Good job!!!!!!
I really like that skinny orange- sets it off nicely.
You have a winner, no matter what you choose (except that dark blue, I don't like it on there lol) :)

PS. I none of us were needy we wouldn't need the board, right? :)

Kassaundra 09-10-2017 12:56 PM

I would do the second picture. I love all things orange, and your deep blue is a great color, but you have a low volume quilt that is lovely, honor that decision and keep it low volume.

QuiltingHaven 09-10-2017 12:56 PM

I like the smaller orange sash and then the blue for the larger sash.....they pull out the colors from the main blocks beautiful. However, we all have different feelings but that pulls the colors from the blocks and makes everything pulled together. Have fun and do what you like!!!!

Annaquilts 09-10-2017 01:06 PM

The first picture. Too much green/teal in the other pictures.

joe'smom 09-10-2017 01:35 PM

I would use the blue, possibly with an inner border of the sashing fabric.

mountain-moma 09-10-2017 01:37 PM

Love the skinny orange sets it off nicely ,,Beautiful quilt

I think this is what I'd do.

I like the second from bottom with the narrow blue and wider green. I like that green better than the brighter green. How about the thin orange and that green in a wider border?

Eisy 09-10-2017 04:47 PM

Blue inner border with outer border same as sashing. Might make the inner border a little wider.

Also I wonder what binding with that pink would look like Might clash too much with the orange or maybe not since it is in your main fabric too.

sewbizgirl 09-10-2017 08:23 PM

You gave lots of options and have gotten as many opinions! :D Good luck making your decision.

Annie68 09-11-2017 04:30 AM

Orange inner with the blue outer border, very nice!

margied 09-11-2017 04:47 AM

I like the sashing as inner border - it finishes the sashing then the green or blue for the outer border.

Ariannaquilts 09-11-2017 04:47 AM

I really like option 3 it just feels right. Whatever you decide will be fabulous.

Yes, I agree.

lovingLakeMich 09-11-2017 05:35 AM

Options 2 and 4 are the choices I like the least. I can't wait to see what you go with!

Innov8R 09-11-2017 05:56 AM

i like the second picture because it is soft and carries on the soft theme of the quilt.

kat13 09-11-2017 06:28 AM

I like them all so whatever you chose will be great!! If I had to pick just one, I agree with narrow orange one:)

Rennie 09-11-2017 07:03 AM

Since it is just an opinion, to me the orange draws the eye to the orange and takes away from actually looking at the print in the blocks. It is a soft print quilt, and having the borders really bright takes my eyes from the actual body of the quilt - therefore, I would opt for a border to be the same as the block sashing, with no big contrast color between.
But it will be lovely and loved, however you do it.

salederer 09-11-2017 07:23 AM

I would also use the orange for inner border, but then I would add the blue for a wider outer border and bind with maybe the same fabric as your sashing? Good luck, please show us your final decision.

salederer 09-11-2017 07:26 AM

After looking again at your soft print, Maybe not the orange, but the soft pink for inner border, then the blue.

klswift 09-11-2017 07:32 AM

I think it depends on your favorite color - orange or blue. But, with either one as the inner narrow border, I would use the sashing color for the outer border. I feel the color gives the eye a good stop and the sash color for the outer just finishes it nicely. (For the record, I would use the blue, but, blue is always been my favorite color!)

kayluvs2quilt 09-11-2017 10:34 AM

My vote is for the orange inner border ~

maryellen2u 09-11-2017 12:49 PM

That is such a cute print! I would love to know the name of it and the manufacturer etc. It's funny to me that when you put the small border of whatever color then you notice that collor on the little figures. All of a sudden their wardrobe etc. stand out. I agree the color of your sashings should be the border.

Crispy_Frog 09-11-2017 01:40 PM

I vote orange. It's a happy color!
