When I initially looked at it, I liked #1. Having studied it, I think that #2 would be best. I would like a 1/2" 1st border, then your beautiful batik, then 1/2" border of the teal. The brown binding in #2 seems to disappear. Regardless, it is gorgeous.

paoberle 07-14-2013 04:59 AM

When you lay the two borders next to the quilt, which one do you keep going back to? That's the one to choose.

glorcour 07-14-2013 05:23 AM

I like the first with the brown, but I think it should be narrower maybe 1/2inch. Pretty quilt!

The first one for me too. The blue in the second one is so dark it "stops" the quilt before your eye travels to the border.

What she said. I like the first one best and didn't know why. Prism explains it perfectly.

Number uno

#2. #1 is too close to the color of some of the fabrics in the quilt and they colors bleed together, IMO. I like #2 better with the pretty floral batik in the wide border, too.

Ditto on the brown being the same color as the brown block in the quilt and so where it is next to a brown block you can't see the distinction between the two. The blue is a darker blue and sets off both the lighter blue and the brown. IMO

red-warrior 07-14-2013 05:48 AM

I too like #1, but #2 is beautiful if you want more blue.

msrosecooks 07-14-2013 05:55 AM

I like #1. The rust color stands out nice.

I like #1.

Txkolibri 07-14-2013 06:07 AM

Number 1 appeals to me more, altho both are nice. Great fabric !

DebbE 07-14-2013 06:11 AM

#1 absolutely! Love your quilt top

krisgray 07-14-2013 06:16 AM

I love #2 -the blue contrasts nicely with the browns.

joyce888 07-14-2013 06:19 AM

I like the first pic with the brown narrow border. But I think I would have to see the entire quilt to know for sure which reads better.

Shrink42020 07-14-2013 06:45 AM

I really like number one with the brown inner border - I think it makes it look warmer!

ptwheels 07-14-2013 07:02 AM

I like the first one....it seems to flow outward.

calla 07-14-2013 07:07 AM

Number 1.........calla

me too. Eye is drawn first to the dominant brown in either one, the blue (or teal) in the center lets your eyes enjoy the whole quilt.

aronel 07-14-2013 08:15 AM

I prefer the 2nd one.

klgls 07-14-2013 08:24 AM

Both are nice - #1 emits a warmer tone; #2 cooler. Either choice is going to be a very nice quilt!

jcrow 07-14-2013 08:56 AM

I absolutely LOVE #2!!!!

KerryK 07-14-2013 09:01 AM

They are both very pretty but I like #2 a little better.

Rose_P 07-14-2013 09:22 AM

I greatly prefer #2.

nellybelle 07-14-2013 09:51 AM

Number 1 gets my vote!!!

DebbieG 07-14-2013 10:48 AM

#1 is my pick...lovely quilt!!

callen 07-14-2013 10:53 AM

I vote for #1 also. Both are nice but it depends on what YOU like the best. After all that wonderful work, trust your judgement, it's worked so far hasn't it?

roserips 07-14-2013 11:34 AM

Well I will join in with number one because it gives a warmer feel to the quilt and accents the narrow border very nicely with the dark binding pow great colors by the way.

dove911 07-14-2013 11:36 AM

Definitely number 1. Makes the colors pop.

daria 07-14-2013 11:36 AM

Hands down the first one

MdmSew'n'Sew 07-14-2013 11:45 AM

It depends ... do you want a BROWN quilt or a quilt of many colors ... the brown border makes the browns dominate and bleed into the outer border, so all you see are browns ... the teal gives all the different colors equal weight, so you see everything as discrete colors ... I personally would go with the teal so that ALL the colors shine ... and I love, love, love the outer border fabric. Lovely!

wildyard 07-14-2013 12:18 PM

I prefer the second because I always like the binding to be the darkest.

Mitch's mom 07-14-2013 12:34 PM

I'm going with number 1 because the binding shows better than on the number 2 example. I like both.

palmetto girl 07-14-2013 01:31 PM

First one from here. would love to see the whole quilt.

wishfulthinking 07-14-2013 02:43 PM

Brown looks best to me.

smurfsmom 07-14-2013 07:35 PM

Like them both but #1 gets the vote

maps 07-14-2013 07:45 PM

I would go with #1

AlaskaAlice 07-14-2013 10:16 PM

I like # 1 ...

rebeljane 07-15-2013 12:18 AM

I like number 2 best!

quiltyjax 07-15-2013 12:45 AM

Another vote for number 1. Lovely colours and beautiful piecing - well done.

caitflynn 07-15-2013 02:27 AM

My eye was drawn to No 1.
