I would use a dark green or a beige.

JENNR8R 10-07-2013 03:59 AM

I'd use blue to bring out the colors in the center.

WMUTeach 10-07-2013 04:24 AM

I would use a small red print or calico to repeat the small printed "binding" around the Santa piece in the center.

JoyceRowell 10-07-2013 04:26 AM

I love the quilt, I think red.

janiesews 10-07-2013 04:52 AM

It is beautiful! I think green.

Lavada 10-07-2013 04:54 AM

I vote for red love the old fashioned santa

piepatch 10-07-2013 05:02 AM

I would bind it in dark green, or black!

Annie68 10-07-2013 05:24 AM

I would use a red!

Knitette 10-07-2013 05:29 AM

At first glance I thought green, but having looked at it again, I'd go with red - such a cheery festive colour.

matraina 10-07-2013 05:30 AM

I would go with the red.

BellaBoo 10-07-2013 05:36 AM

I would choose red from the green. Have you thought of using the color blue of the background as a binding. That would give it the finishing touch.

Shorebird 10-07-2013 06:20 AM

I would do red.....but either would look good.

scrapinmema 10-07-2013 07:14 AM

If I were making this would use the red. This is really beautiful.

Seaside gal 10-07-2013 07:26 AM

I vote for green.

mighty 10-07-2013 07:33 AM

I think I would go with green.

sewbizgirl 10-07-2013 08:14 AM

Just to throw a monkey wrench, I'd consider the cream fabric that you have in the piecing. Lovely quilt, btw!

fangman 10-07-2013 08:31 AM

I think a dark green would look great.

roserips 10-07-2013 08:55 AM

Actually I think that navy would be great.

ManiacQuilter2 10-07-2013 09:05 AM

This is out of left field but how about black ????

MargeD 10-07-2013 09:17 AM

I can see the reason for the question. as I think it would look good in either color. Looking at it again, I think a dark green might do, since the squares in the border are mostly green. Love the old world Santa panels - in fact I have some old world Santa squares that are in a very special place, I'll have to look for them.

trolleystation 10-07-2013 09:54 AM

I would bind it in the darkest green from your border. It would act as a narrow frame for your wonderful quilt.

jclinganrey 10-07-2013 10:02 AM

Dark green. I vote for dark green. It would frame it nicely and not distract the eye from the center.

Jane

Your darkest green color for the border, you have done a beautiful job designing, piecing and quilting, please show us when you have finished.

quilter2theend 10-07-2013 11:10 AM

Yep, green, green, and green.

jbj137 10-07-2013 01:52 PM

*** red ***

Luv Quilts and Cats 10-07-2013 03:08 PM

I vote for red.

Tiggersmom 10-07-2013 03:39 PM

I vote red too!

I vote for red.

katiebear1 10-07-2013 03:48 PM

I would use a dark green. I think it would be richer looking. BTW, beautiful quilt

lildinks2013 10-07-2013 03:50 PM

Red would make it pop i think. I love Father Christmas. This is beautiful.

Yooper32 10-08-2013 03:17 AM

Strongly red.

FieldGuidetoQuilts.com 10-08-2013 05:41 AM

Red would set things off really beautifully, but I think a red binding would be too narrow to make a strong enough contrast. If you were adding a border, I'd say red. For binding, I vote for green.

tessagin 10-08-2013 05:47 AM

I would say the dark green!

pokeygirl 10-08-2013 06:42 AM

I'm partial to the red.

Taughtby Grandma 10-08-2013 07:06 AM

Red will make the red more dominant, green will blend in.

IBQUILTIN 10-08-2013 08:53 AM

The frame around the medallion is red, and I think the binding would reflect this color and make the center pop

Pennyhal 10-08-2013 09:12 AM

I would use the green that goes around your center medallion.

noveltyjunkie 10-08-2013 01:04 PM

I think green. Red would make those red rectangles jump out much more, pulling the eye around.

If you really love red you could add red piping, or bind it in red, but overall I think green would be classy and wonderful with this lovely project.

Sheilz 10-08-2013 01:49 PM

Green for an olde worlde look, red for modern. Your quilt is beautiful!

cashs_mom 10-08-2013 02:25 PM

Dark green. Definitely dark green
