http://www.pinmoor.com/index.html

I am not truly convinced. What do you all think?

Kathy N 05-01-2010 05:55 PM

It sure is an interesting concept, but the price is outrageous for snipped pieces of foam.

Maride 05-01-2010 05:58 PM

Whew! I had not even looked at the price. I just saw the video. I can not imagine trying to maneuver a large quilt with all those pin heads sticking out and getting caught on everything. I also could not imagine how she can quilt keeping the backing straight the way she is stopping to remove pin and foam.

cashmommy11 05-01-2010 05:59 PM

i think you could use the peanut that you get from ups and they are free.

stitchinwitch 05-01-2010 06:02 PM

Interesting - they remind me of foam ear plugs.

Use marshmallows and then eat them when you get done.

Jois 05-01-2010 06:12 PM

Ditto Maride.

Then again, think of what people must have said when they first saw cutters?

KiwiQuilter 05-01-2010 06:13 PM

Interesting concept.

Couldn't you do the same thing with cigarette filters???

Anyway, that's beside the point - the concept and the product isn't something that I would find valuable.

Wow! I just checked out the price?!!!!

Oklahoma Suzie 05-01-2010 06:15 PM

I like the idea, but they are way too much money.

I don't think so - filters are layers of fibers, aren't they (I quit a while ago) and the pin would poke right through. Plus, they wouldn't taste as good as a marshmallow. lol

studio-christine 05-01-2010 06:20 PM

it's just pinning a quilt with straight pins, instead of safety pins

stopper idea is neat, but I think that they would get lost very quickly

Candace 05-01-2010 06:20 PM

I think they're neat for like $3 or $4 a pack. Not $20, though. I agree they look just like earplugs.

mamaw 05-01-2010 06:33 PM

I like the concept instead of taking the time to do and undo the safety pins! Pricey, and not sure how well they will stay in while maneuvering the quilt around to quilt it.

sewnsewer2 05-01-2010 06:33 PM

Boy that sure would stop me from poking my fingers! I like the idea but the cost....way too high!

mamaw 05-01-2010 06:38 PM

Forgot to mention, remind me of the earplugs hubby wears at work....hmmmmm.

Honey 05-01-2010 07:06 PM

I think I stick with safety pins. (no pun intended).

quiltluvr 05-01-2010 07:21 PM

Especially in times of spending wisely, I'd pass on this. Nothing wrong with safety pins. They look too bulky to try and maneuver around while sewing. IMHO.

purplemem 05-01-2010 07:35 PM

I think the concept is smart, I would try them, but not at that price. $20 is too high, but I would pay $10.

amma 05-01-2010 10:54 PM

Neat concept, but not too practical in my way of thinking. It looked clumsy watching her quilt and stopping to remove them... I would have to think about it, and maybe try it with a few ear plugs first.

Janetlmt 05-02-2010 01:41 AM

LOL..I was thinking the same thing

stitchinwitch 05-02-2010 02:36 AM

For those of you who have cats - can't you just see the writing on the wall???

hahhahahha That quacked me up!!!!

QuiltingQueen 05-03-2010 03:25 AM

I prefer spray baste. I do like the idea of sticking them in your hand sewing needles... I will keep and eye out for the a couple of packing peanuts!

That's exactly what I thought the first time I saw it. Gadgets, gadgets, gadgets, like we don't have enough!!!!! Edie

Nanjun 05-03-2010 03:38 AM

I am with you Marsye! Love marshmallows.

Karen's Kreations 05-03-2010 03:55 AM

I'd have those little suckers flying all over my sewing room. At least when my pins hit the floor I can pick them up with a magnet!

marymay 05-03-2010 04:14 AM

I thought about this when I was quilting.Came up with earplugs.
Cheaper.

IrishNY 05-03-2010 04:33 AM

I am not quite sure what the point of them is.

SherriB 05-03-2010 04:34 AM

I like them. Sometimes my hands hurt so much from using the safety pins.

I don't have a cat...but I have Chip! (of silk thread chewing fame!)

She says that they're made of silicone...and I'm thinking that I can go down to Home Depot and find something that will work as well, cut it and use that for the same purpose. I DO like the concept!

That's what I thought. You might want to pick up a few ear plugs and see if they work... they might not be as dense as those, but worth a try.

bstanbro 05-03-2010 07:01 AM

I haven't felt a need for such a product. I'm fine using safety pins. I didn't check the price, although some of you thought it was high. These remind me of foam earplugs, which can be purchased in bulk at my local supermarket. They would accomplish the same thing, possibly at lower cost.

Yes! Now ya talking my english! HEHE just a little snack!

AnnaK 05-03-2010 07:13 AM

Why don't we use mini-marshmallows instead and eat them as we quilt. Yeah...that's the ticket!! LOL

(Sorry Marsye, just now read your post)

bob1414 05-03-2010 07:37 AM

Not for me - they look like foam earplugs. I don't mind an occasional pin prick.

Julie Baird 05-03-2010 07:46 AM

Interesting idea, but I use hundreds of safety pins to pin baste...at $20 for 50...way to expensive to give it a real try.

I do like the idea of using them to find your hand sewing needles.

Julie

amazon 05-03-2010 08:02 AM

$20 for 50! To rich for my blood, but I do like the concept.

vickig626 05-03-2010 08:45 AM

amen.

Looks like a great product, IF you still pin your sandwich layers before quilting. Since I have not pinned, only spray basted, for several years now I have no use for them. Looks much more practical and easy than safety pins.
