I like it!

slbram17 12-15-2013 07:31 PM

That's what I thought. I was reading comments about sashing, but from your pic, it didn't appear to me to be sashing.

lildinks2013 12-15-2013 07:50 PM

Not yet. But so many suggested narrow sashing would nice and i think i agree. This will take me sometime i'm sure, so I have lots of time to think about it.

i went back and looked at the 'sashing' again and thought it was an odd choice, LAUGHED OUT LOUD when i read it was the table i was looking at
i like sashing , black, like the others said.
i love the idea of using machine stitching on it, i will file it under' 'things i want to do'
thanks for posting, it is lovely.

joyce888 12-16-2013 04:07 AM

I think they look great.

twinkie 12-16-2013 04:35 AM

I love it. Love scrappies.

Sew Freak 12-16-2013 05:20 AM

Awful!!! simply awful!!!.....but I'm willing to take it off your hands! (LOL-luv-it!!!!)

AnnT 12-16-2013 05:21 AM

I like your crazy blocks. I agree with a black sashing. I think it would set it off nicely.

HomespunHearth 12-16-2013 05:25 AM

Beautiful. Would love to see it when it's complete. As others have mentioned, a black sashing will make all of the colors really pop. My grandmother made 10 of these quilts all out of my grandfather's ties (one for each of her 2 daughters and 8 GDs -- she had no grandsons!). She used a black satin sashing, and I think she must have used the heaviest weight batting possible as these quilts weigh a ton!

Emma S 12-16-2013 06:12 AM

Inspiring! I want so badly to do a crazy quilt but the last thing I need is to start another quilt before I finish my large collection of UFOs.

cpcarolyn 12-16-2013 06:16 AM

Beautiful great job.

matraina 12-16-2013 06:24 AM

I love it!

mighty 12-16-2013 06:43 AM

It is beautiful, I really like the sashing idea!

Vera39760 12-16-2013 06:45 AM

It is beautiful. I like the different patterns stitching you are using. I've been working on a crazy quilt and started off using one decorative stitch pattern. I like the different patterns. It looks more like I think of with a crazy quilt.

girlsfour 12-16-2013 06:52 AM

I love it!!! Very nice!

tessagin 12-16-2013 06:52 AM

I like this quilt your way! Love the stitching. Bed or wall hanging?

PolkaBabe 12-16-2013 06:56 AM

Love it. Now that is a "Crazy Quilt". Keep it up, & thank you for sharing.

sewbizgirl 12-16-2013 07:41 AM

I think you are doing a great job!

klutzyquilter 12-16-2013 07:54 AM

 You've inspired me to tackle my scraps and try to make blocks as nice as yours.

bibi 12-16-2013 07:58 AM

This is really cool looking.

shasta5718 12-16-2013 08:06 AM

Nice work, I like your idea of sashing blocks.

lildinks2013 12-16-2013 08:09 AM

For a bed. Some day I will do a wall hanging and use lots of diff embellishments.

Carol34446 12-16-2013 09:43 AM

Blocks are really beautiful and they will make a great quilt. Black will make the blocks stand out.

MargeD 12-16-2013 10:07 AM

I like it and the way you have used the narrow sashing in between the blocks. Nice job.

joy tippit 12-16-2013 10:18 AM

I think that it is awesome! and really isn't that the point of a crazy quilt that you make it however you want without a set pattern. I think a dark sashing would add to it nicely.

lildinks2013 12-16-2013 11:16 AM

Havent used any sashing yet. That is my table under the blocks. lol So many elves i see are being over worked at this tie of year. Understandable.

( pssst! The gold 'sashing', is the table, between the blocks, but I agree with your idea for the sashing being darker

carolynjo 12-16-2013 12:58 PM

You have done a very good job on the blocks. I would also agree that you should use black sashing. Please post again when the top is finished.

lildinks2013 12-16-2013 01:11 PM

With all the suggestions in using a black sashing, makes me anxious myself to see what it will look like. lol I tried telling a friend that its like putting a cloth puzzle together. Its actually fun to do,less precise cutting. oh this is one heck of an adventure for me.

mimiof4 12-16-2013 03:44 PM

I just love it!

krissr 12-16-2013 04:14 PM

I agree with the black but your other colors and how did them are right on.

Karen Mc 12-16-2013 05:37 PM

I like it. Very nice work!

givio 12-16-2013 05:59 PM

My vote is for no sashing.

Crazy quilts remind me of my grandmother. She made her blocks about 12" square, sewing the pieces of fabric by hand onto a foundation made from an old sheet. She used black feather stitch embroidery between the pieces. She sewed the blocks together by machine, then put the black feather stitch over the seams. Always quilted them in straight lines about 2" apart (by hand). My mother wouldn't let us sit on her bed when she used her crazy quilt that grandma made. Even so, the embroidery wore out long before the quilt did.

It takes a real talent to put together the crazy patch block! Not everyone can do it. You did great!

Gannyrosie 12-16-2013 06:15 PM

It seems everyone is going with black, but i'm seeing a royal purple for some reason. To me the colors are too light for black. It will be beautiful no matter which way.

Rubesgirl 12-16-2013 06:34 PM

It's lovely. :-)

probles 12-16-2013 06:42 PM

I love crazy quilts. Traditionally they do not have sashing in them. It is your quilt, so it is your choice. Not having the sashing keeps that crazy look going, less organized.

Jannie 12-16-2013 07:22 PM

I like what you have done so far. Would like to see it when you are done.

KathyKat 12-16-2013 07:56 PM

Its very pretty!!

roserips 12-16-2013 09:06 PM

I like your blocks so now embellish, embellish, embellish! embroidery, decorative stitches, beading have fun! You are further ahead of me on that project since all I have done is collect fabric.
