great work!
get it all stitched up and it is going to be ab fab! aileen |
I like it!
That's what I thought. I was reading comments about sashing, but from your pic, it didn't appear to me to be sashing.
Not yet. But so many suggested narrow sashing would nice and i think i agree. This will take me sometime i'm sure, so I have lots of time to think about it.

I think that you did a very nice job with your selections and execution of your stitching. I might have used a darker fabric such as black for the sashing instead of the gold/tan fabric. But that is minor and if your happy with your work, I am certainly not going to go against your choices.
i like sashing , black, like the others said. i love the idea of using machine stitching on it, i will file it under' 'things i want to do' thanks for posting, it is lovely. |
I think they look great.
I love it. Love scrappies.
Awful!!! simply awful!!!.....but I'm willing to take it off your hands! (LOL-luv-it!!!!)
I like your crazy blocks. I agree with a black sashing. I think it would set it off nicely.
Beautiful. Would love to see it when it's complete. As others have mentioned, a black sashing will make all of the colors really pop. My grandmother made 10 of these quilts all out of my grandfather's ties (one for each of her 2 daughters and 8 GDs -- she had no grandsons!). She used a black satin sashing, and I think she must have used the heaviest weight batting possible as these quilts weigh a ton!
Inspiring! I want so badly to do a crazy quilt but the last thing I need is to start another quilt before I finish my large collection of UFOs.
Beautiful great job.
I love it!
It is beautiful, I really like the sashing idea!
It is beautiful. I like the different patterns stitching you are using. I've been working on a crazy quilt and started off using one decorative stitch pattern. I like the different patterns. It looks more like I think of with a crazy quilt.
I love it!!! Very nice!
I like this quilt your way! Love the stitching. Bed or wall hanging?
Love it. Now that is a "Crazy Quilt". Keep it up, & thank you for sharing.
I think you are doing a great job!
 You've inspired me to tackle my scraps and try to make blocks as nice as yours.
This is really cool looking.
Nice work, I like your idea of sashing blocks.
For a bed. Some day I will do a wall hanging and use lots of diff embellishments.
Blocks are really beautiful and they will make a great quilt. Black will make the blocks stand out.
I like it and the way you have used the narrow sashing in between the blocks. Nice job.
I think that it is awesome! and really isn't that the point of a crazy quilt that you make it however you want without a set pattern. I think a dark sashing would add to it nicely.
Havent used any sashing yet. That is my table under the blocks. lol So many elves i see are being over worked at this tie of year. Understandable.

You have done a very good job on the blocks. I would also agree that you should use black sashing. Please post again when the top is finished.

With all the suggestions in using a black sashing, makes me anxious myself to see what it will look like. lol I tried telling a friend that its like putting a cloth puzzle together. Its actually fun to do,less precise cutting. oh this is one heck of an adventure for me.
I just love it!
I agree with the black but your other colors and how did them are right on.
I like it. Very nice work!
My vote is for no sashing.
Crazy quilts remind me of my grandmother. She made her blocks about 12" square, sewing the pieces of fabric by hand onto a foundation made from an old sheet. She used black feather stitch embroidery between the pieces. She sewed the blocks together by machine, then put the black feather stitch over the seams. Always quilted them in straight lines about 2" apart (by hand). My mother wouldn't let us sit on her bed when she used her crazy quilt that grandma made. Even so, the embroidery wore out long before the quilt did. It takes a real talent to put together the crazy patch block! Not everyone can do it. You did great! |
It seems everyone is going with black, but i'm seeing a royal purple for some reason. To me the colors are too light for black. It will be beautiful no matter which way.
It's lovely. :-)
I love crazy quilts. Traditionally they do not have sashing in them. It is your quilt, so it is your choice. Not having the sashing keeps that crazy look going, less organized.
I like what you have done so far. Would like to see it when you are done.
Its very pretty!!
I like your blocks so now embellish, embellish, embellish! embroidery, decorative stitches, beading have fun! You are further ahead of me on that project since all I have done is collect fabric.
