The beige border leaves the blocks looking awkward and alone, looks better with color around them.

I like the purple border, makes the blocks stand out.

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL, I haven't been on the board for a few months, but I have been busy. Last fall, I requested scraps of purple batiks and the response from the quilters on this board was awesome. Think I have enough to do 2 purple quilts. And the grands will love that, think they all love purple. Anyway, the blocks are set on an off white background, and have the same for the borders. I have gotten 4 blocks done, and laid them out on Friday, and thought that is really dull. So, today, when I looked at it again, I still had the same impression, so I laid out scrappy strips of purple and my husband agrees that the blocks show up better. So now I am coming to more experts for their opinions. Please let me know what you think.
Now this next one is with the purple borders. IMO, the purple sashing is way too mis-matched for the blocks and detracts from each of them. |
