I had the Oreck and did not like. I didn't think it got hot enough. Also I wore it out pretty quick. I'm pretty hard on an iron. Just lost my Rowenta Steam system. I replaced it today with the Rowenta Focus. It was 99.99 at Joann's and I had a $20 coupon. I do not like auto off irons and that's about all you can buy now.

Never tried an Oreck iron, but they look interesting. The next time an iron breaks, will seriously consider it. Still miss the family department store--they had the best coats and shoes.

Wow. That's pretty expensive. I've had good luck with less expensive irons. Maybe I just lucked out with my Oreck but it is very hot and I love it. I'm an Oreck person. I have their large vac plus the hand held one and love them .Automatic turn off would be something to consider though. I like that if I'm ironing something large but not for sewing. |
Edie, I have one, and I keep it plugged in when I use it. Seems to get cool too fast, otherwise. Like the weight, and it does a good job.

Can't tell you what to get, but I CAN tell you what NOT to get: no Rowentas....I've gone through three of them in less than two years...and no Sharks...bought one 10/6/10 and that @#$% quit on me tonight! I am currently using a very (too) small Rival I got on sale at WalMart for $5.00 and it's probably the best bargain I've seen! Good luck!
